How much credibility?

I'm watching the whole Falluja thing go down on TV. Then I see Allawi giving a speech before the Iraqi National Guard. This got me wondering, how much credibility does Allawi have with the ordinary Iraqi on the ground? This is one thing that the media, at least when I've been watching, hasn't touched. Does anybody know?

According to this blog they see him as simply a puppet of the American agenda, not to be trusted or believed. I'm sure there are other view points as well, but at least some see him that way.

After having 2 members of his family kidnapped (probably to be executed in a brutal manner) and still not calling off the dogs, I'd say that Allawi is really showing his dedication to the future of his nation. It really appears that he understands that this is something much bigger than him or his family. He has sent soldiers to hunt down the kidnappers, but I'm sure he understands that most likely, they will fail.

I'm very impressed that he has stayed the course through this. The suggestion that he is a puppet of the USA is completely without merit and borderline offensive.

Maybe he has to kill a couple Israeli schoolchildren to give him some street cred with the general Iraqi populace.

I don't think that any of us know. Also, the level of credibility that he has probably varies greatly between Shiite and Sunnite Muslims.

The major problem for us is to try to understand the thinking of those people there.

Would We not turn in someone who is killing innocent people, men, women, and children? Brutilizing The People by Cutting off heads, Burning bodies, hanging them to be seen. Many of these people are there to make money, but to help rebuild Iraq. They dont seem to be doing it. Iraqis are trying to have a Police force and an Army, but are attacked and killed. They blow up Oil lines, power stations, schools, hotels, Hospitals ETC, things that are in a need for The People.

Thank God, My Best friends Son just left there to fly back to a safer ground.

But in retrospect, I have two Brother Alums who are there or are going there in harms way.

Polotics make strange bed fellows, power is the main thing. Who replaces who to be The Power to rape their country.

The Iraq blogs are ridiculous.

First of all they never back any of their statements up and often contain nothing more than conspiracy theories. It's funny because that reminds me of my older relatives. It's a big middle eastern thing and they think everything is somehow a conspiracy.

Then there are the extremists bigot statements. One statement was along the lines of how they were so great and how a country that is even debating allowing homosexuals to marry could consider itself better and then it went on to attack Jews and Christians.

And then you have to consider in a poor country at war with little freedom of speech, what kind of people have access to the internet and a blog??
