Bioterrorism in Des Moines?

Just heard on the radio that the Des Moines Register's office building has been evacuated after a package with a strange substance was found in their mailroom. Part of downtown Des Moines blocked off, Des Moines Hazardous Materials unit, US Postal Investigators and FBI are at the scene, a few DSM Register employees being put through decontamination procedures.

Bush spoke in Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday morning at a National Association of Home Builders meeting. He is scheduled to be in Des Moines on Monday. The vice presidential debates will be held Tuesday in Cleveland.

Tarpinian said he knew of no connections between the presidential and vice presidential visits and the letters. He said that the Register's letter made no specific threats and that security at events would be tight as always.
