Over the course of the day I will search for that thread and post a link.
As I have said before, I guess it all depends on WHO is delivering the message. **shrug** Oh wait! It does, because then there wouldn't be such an uproar of Bill Cosby either.

Girl I swear we are >>>here<<< LOL!
I was making the same point yesterday that people can really get caught up in who's delivering the message and miss the whole point. I am waiting to see that thread!

There are certain traps set up to harm Black America but those listed above are not them.

OF course abortion isn't just a black problem...where did you see that he implied that? But it is affecting our community in disproportionate numbers...just as HIV/AIDS isn't a black problem...but its wreaking havoc in our community.

No need to poke holes or dispute it. His comment about Abortion being a planned attack on Black America is ALREADY FULL OF HOLES and laughable at best. Your boy has no facts to back up ANY of that (abortion a planned attack on Blacks) up. I'm not going to comment on anything else in this thread because I just got here. But, that abortion comment was over the top.

Icon's intolerance for abortions have been noted, now you don't need to bring it up in so many threads (that don't pertain to abortions) anymore. I also suggest that you stop letting your hatred coupled w/ your religious convictions blind you if you keep on your current path you're going to be another Osama Bin-Laden very soon.

I can't believe it!
When I typed this message months ago I never thought that it would create this kind of stir. I've been gone fron GC for a while and I never expected my question to the audience to continuie like this.
I'm glad.
I love to here intellegent people debate feelings and thoughts on a subject like this.
I guess when you put passionate people (frat/soror) in a forum and ask them to talk about another passionate subject (God and religion) expect to get some excitement and fire works.
Keep it up you guys!

It seems Bush likes to duck any type of battle, but instead prefer to talk a good game. The news coming out is that Bush may skip a town hall type debate w/ John Kerry b/c he's afraid of the questions that the undecided voters will ask him......

Bush to address NAACP after five-year hiatus
Tuesday, July 18, 2006; Posted: 1:40 p.m. EDT (17:40 GMT)
WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- After a five-year absence, President Bush will appear before the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the nation's oldest civil rights organization, the White House announced Tuesday.
His speech on Thursday comes as his Republican Party tries to court black voters ahead of critical congressional elections in November and almost a year after the Bush administration was widely criticized for failing to help the poor and black communities in New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

Well the NAACP basically calling for a boycott of Target shows how petty they really are.

Found this NAACP calls on blacks to avoid Target
Short version: NAACP does a Diversity survey every year
Target has gotten an F, a D-, and another F over the past 3 years. (see wikipedia article on Target)
Target won't tell the NAACP anything about it's hiring practices.
Oh and the article threw in that Oprah endorsed Tar-jay.
I don't know anything about the NAACP's survey, but if Target doesn't WANT to share their info, they don't have to. They just shouldn't be surprised if this happens...

The NAACP presents surveys or something similar, that businesses can complete in order to recieve a ranking by the NAACP or whatever subsidiary organization does this...anyhow, Target, among others, simply didn't complete the "survey" (from what I understand, its not like a single page survey, its an extensive questionaire type project to complete), and for their non-compliance, recieved an F from the NAACP. Also, someone from the NAACP made some comments saying that black people should avoid their stores, but didn't actually use the word boycott. Target issued a press release noting some statistics, where 40 something percent of their employees are black, along with 20 something percent of their supervising/managerial staff. They said they did not complete the survey because they want to be inclusionary of everyone, and not focus on a single race. I find it really ridiculous when the NAACP and similar "civil rights" organizations issue these type of surveys to companies and universities, and give them a failing grade for not responding. Who are they to determine that everyone must take time to participate in something, for fear of being deemed not hospitable/unreceptive/prejudiced or something along those lines.

If it's true that they simply didn't fill out the survey, I'm disappointed in the way the NAACP handled it. They shouldn't give an F and move on, they should put that information is not given.
Sure, then boycott, protest whatever. But don't make it sound like Target is failing to hire black/advertise in their neighborhoods etc just that they aren't willing to share that information with the NAACP.
