Tonight was the weirdest night of my life, again.
Yeah, I know I have said that before, but I have never played the dead body card before.
I was supposed to go downtown to meet one of my fraternity brothers who used to be on the board of directors for the alumni association here in San Antonio. He was back in town for the weekend.. SO we all meet down at Pat O’Brians. Throw down some hurricanes. Good stuff. Then realize that one of the girls with us is my ex-girlfriend. Nice. Then Greg’s old roommate shows up. We call him ‘Camp Jim’, cause hes like the dude from the MTV show. With his ‘girlfriend’. Apparently the dumbest hooker on the block. So then we go to club REVE. They had a velvet rope. We waited behind it while chicks with backfat got in. Apparently the velvet rope means nothing in SA. Yeah. We finally get in and I cant understand whats the big deal. This place isn’t all that.
So finally, after all that and its 2am, and I am tired as hell. So we get the entire group to leave. Not before this one chick with us asks me, “So how do you know Greg and all them?” I tell her “were all old fraternity brothers.” She says, “Where did you go to school, A&M, with them?” I said, “No, UT-San Antonio. Greg joined our association here in town.” She said, do you know Mike Cooper? I am all, “Um, Yeah, hes the guy from SMU who is in medical school here in SA who volunteered with the Alumni Association to help run the colony I advise. Shes all, “Yeah, I went to High School with him.” Wow. Because that’s not crazy enough…
So were all leaving the bar… And on our way to the car (which is a walk I have made both sober and drunk easily 100 times, ) we see a bunch of cops moving us to the other side of the street. So we do and we see a chick in a brides veil ( the kind they give out to the bacheloriete parties here with condoms in it and such) crying on the sidewalk, OVER A DUDE ON THE SIDEWALK, WITH BLOOD SPATTERED EVERWHERE. Yeah. I just saw a dead body. There were only a few cops there. As we were walking away, the fire department was just showing up, with other chicks crying about, “oh my god, why did he jump from the parking garage?” Screaming, crying, WHY? It was terrifying.
Yeah, I am all emotional and freaked out because I have lived in a big-ass city for 12 years now and just saw my first-ass real live dead body all close-up style and stuff and it was creepy. Ya’ll, his head was all smushed and he was lying in a heap and there was blood spattered EVERYWHERE. Everyone was crying and all wiereded out.
I think this might keep me from going downtown for a few weeks. Wow.
Anyone else ever just seen a dead body all fresh style?

Wow what a night! I haven't experienced something like that. Ewww. I did see a dead body covered over though with a blanket on the subway platform once, but certainly nothing like that compares to your story!

Thats sucks. I am so sorry that you had to see that, and sadly that it happened.
One of those moments where you want to not take life for granted.
I have not seen a "fresh" new dead body. But my friend was on campus 2 years ago when tragically the window in one of the Towers gave out and two freshmen fell to their death. She was on her cell phone and something dropped and hit her on the head. She looks up and two guys come tumbling out of the 14th floor. She had to jump to get out of the way!!! I can't imagine.

Whenever there is an accident, I look away because I don't need that memory etched in my mind. I feel bad for police officers and EMTs who have to see that regularly.
I feel sorry for the bride.

Ok, so I think I'll make that number one on my list of "Reasons not to go to San Antonio"
I'm sorry you had to see that, I probably would have been just a little bit hysterical.

Back when I was knee high to a toadstool and dinosaurs roamed the earth (actually when I was about 7 or 8) I witnessed a little kid who fell off a third-floor balcony to his death. The sound of the impact and the appearance of the body afterward is something I will never forget.
Later on, when I was a Civil Air Patrol cadet, I was on a search and rescue ground team; to prepare us for what we could find at a crash site we viewed some pretty graphic photo slides of human remains. At first, you might dismiss it as innocuous crash debris, but once it hits you that what you're looking at is a dead body, it hits you like a freight train.

SAN ANTONIO
Man falls to death at parking garage
A 32-year-old man was found dead after a fall from the parking garage of an apartment building in the 100 block of Losoya Street on Sunday morning.
Guillermo Sazo of Houston was found lying face-down on the sidewalk when police arrived at about 2:25 a.m.
Sazo appeared to have fallen backward from the first floor of the garage and slid down an awning to the ground, where he struck his head, according to a report from the San Antonio Police Department.
After gathering evidence from the scene and checking all floors of the apartment building, the police found no signs of a struggle or foul play.
The medical examiner's office said a report determining Sazo's cause of death is expected today.
