Crest/Shield
Hey I'm not a soror but I hope to be soon. I have been trying to learn more about Zeta Phi Beta each day. Today I am looking to find out about the crest/shield and the dove. I want to know the meaning of each and any other info u would like to share with me. I am very interested in the sorority and would appreciate any info given to me.

Well...how can I put this nicely...
I'm afraid no member of this sorority can or will share that information with non-members.
Our international website would be a great place to learn more about our sorority. www.zphib1920.org

Sistagreek, that was an extremely gracious response. *Hoping that she does not say she's already been to the website* The next response will be less gracious.

Thanx a lot for ur help
The purpose of the question was not to start anything with anyone but to find out info to help lead me in my journey of hopefully becoming one of the finer woman of ZPhiB. I have been on the nat'l website and many more and they dont provibe a lot of different information. Knowing more than just the history of an organization does help a person know if that is the org for them. Personally I didnt think asking about the crest/shield would offend anyone, because that was not the purpose.

In the NPHC what you are asking is priviledged information. You will not get an answer.
"Knowing more than just the history of an organization does help a person know if that is the org for them. "
Get in contact with a chapter in your area and see what service events and programs they have. Volunteer with them. Get to know the members. That will give you a better idea of whether Zeta is the org that you want to pursue.

please forgive me for crashing your boards sisters of ZPhiB, but I did want to clarify somethings to someone who is naive of these things
ASKING ANY GLOS whether it's NPHC, NIC, NPC, NALFO, MCGLO, etc....about the meaing/symbolism of their crest is very impolite ... its privileged (i.e. ritual) information and you are not entitled to know it unless you are a member of said organization....it is an outward symbol (just like the badge/pin) of the scared teachings of the organization.
I commend you on wanting to join ZPhiB a very illustrious organization and I hope your journey to become one is successful.
As Intense1920 stated you should really contact a local chapter and volunteer your time to learn more about the organization.
MzSmith, I suggest you read this
thread here even though its not a ZPhiB thread is really is a good rule of thumb for ANY D9 organization.

CHIIIILE,.... lol..
Until you are a member of an organization, you do NOT need to know what the crest/sheild means. It is that serious to those of us who have worked hard to learn that priveledged information..

Well, since I was one of the main authors of the history section of our National Web Site, I take exception to this statement. To the contrary, I think the Web Site provides a lot of information about the organization, much more than I knew when I joined in 1993. Guess what, I'm still a happy Zeta, in spite of my lack of knowledge about the Sorority.
I don't mean to be sarcastic here, but really, each of us makes our own decision about which organization best suits us, and while information about the organization plays a part, at the end of the day, it is not the holy grail you need to decide the organization for you. Certainly knowing the meaning of the Zeta Shield will not give you the assistance you seek.

Realest spit I've quoted yet soror!
Also remember, you also done necessarily have to join an org. Greeklife in general may also not be for you either.
