Chapters at BGSU

I am doing some research on the greek system at Bowling Green State University, And I was wondering if someone with a bairds manual could tell me what chapters have been on the campus. This would be very helpful, as my local library does not have a copy of the book.

We have a colony there. A recolonization effort. I'm not sure how they're doing though. They might even be a chapter by now.

You're trying to determine throughout time who was been there, not just those that are there now, correct?

Really.. they must be going through some pretty massive system expansion then. I spoke with the treasurer there when they first started up. They seemed to have their stuff together.

There is a huge expansion thing going on at the school. Right now there are 4 colonies with 4 more coming, SAE being this fall.
Sigma Nu and Delta Sigma Phi are both colonies still. I think Delta Sig has about 30 guys which is about average and with a good fall rush I would see them being chartered sometime soon. However it is not the same for Sigma Nu they have been struggling and are seeing new member classes of 4 or less in the last year and a half, I think they have only 11 guys. I Feel bad for a couple of buddies in Sigma Nu because they are going to graduate and they would need like 35 guys this semester for them to get iniated before they graduate. The best size class at BG is like 25 for the fall so i dont see that happening

And Yes I wanted to know what chapters have been at BG in the past not just now because I know those. If anyone can help it would be really appreciated.

DU has a chapter at Bowling Green established in 1949, it's very small right now 10-15 members.

Delta Tau Delta has a Bowling Green Chapter. I think it's the Delta Tau chapter of Delt if I recall correctly.

ETA

The didn't make it easy to find, but here's the place to start:

Hi D_Chi_Zinni!

Fraternities at BG have come and gone over the years. I know that besides the ones currently on campus, in the 90s there were also: SAE (I think they're recolonizing), TKE (a colony that I don't think ever became a full chapter), Theta Chi (left in 98 or 99), Kappa Sigma, Phi Kappa Psi, Delta Upsilon, ZBT, Pike (are they colonizing again?). I know ATO was on campus at some point, just don't know when.

Sororities that have left-ADPi (sometime in the early 90s) and ZTA (early 80s).

Hope this helps. I'd love to see your list when you're done!

Thanks for the list.

I didn't know Phi Sigma Kappa had left . They were smaller, but SUCH a great group of guys.

I think there *might* have been one more sorority. If I happen to think of it, I'll post.

I can't find another sorority.

I think AEPi was on campus sometime in the 70s, though. *Edit* AEPi was chartered in 1969-don't know when they left. ATO was chartered in 1943...again, don't know when they left.

I'm trying to figure out the house situation. I know ATO's house is now Johnson Hall (or was-did they tear Johnson down when they redid the Union?). I think the French House was ADPi. Either that or AOPi. And I think Zeta was in Kappa's house.

I always thought Johnston hall was a house, I wondered who lived there too. I wonder why they turned it into a hall ???

ooh well old fraternity row, and the conklin greek units are all going to be torn down in 4 years anyways IT depresses me because we just got our house from ZBT like 5 years ago and now they are gonna move us way out by the field house. They are supposed to be making a new "Greek Village" with a bucn of attached cottages, 2 houses attached by an elevator. I dont know but it sounds wierd.

Hadn't heard about this. That's sad...I had just gotten used to the DZ house being over there (I lived in the "old" house by the windmill that's now DTD). Are they going to tear down Phi Tau and Sig Ep, too? Is sorority row going to be torn down, too?
