There's access, and then there's ACCESS

Pretty crazy stuff; people who are trying to make their way into foreign reporting make some risky choices, but this guy takes it to a whole new level.

What do you all think?

They interviewed the guy on CBC and CNN... he seems a little stressed-out by the situation and more than a little scared.

I think that he is caught in a horrible situation, as terrorists and insurrgents now see him a the source to give tapes to in order to recieve wider coverage... and the terrorists and insurgents are getting a lot more media savy, with a much more polished presentation and editing...

I don't know what I would do if I was this guy... he is in constant danger of retribution if he is percieved as sitting on a tape or not distributing it... wereas he is equally in danger because the more visibile he becomes as a source of distrubiting this material, the great the risk that he becomes a high-profile target for any group seeking to make a statement... and if he refuses to accept tapes or leaves altogther, then what action or revenge would the terrorists or issurgents take?

well- the US has embedded journalists going along with their [members]... why not the insurgency?

edit: how do you compare a military member to an insurgency member title-wise? I need a thesaurus and I need to wake up.

Well, one thing that comes to mind is that our embedded journalists probably didn't worry about the units becoming angry with them for the way they edited something and then choosing to blow them up or behead them.

Oh I forgot. You think the American Military are the real terrorists, right? Just want to know where you stand.

If they did, do you think it was intentional?

If the terrorist murderers did, do you think it was intentional?

What the hell does that have to do with this topic?

But to comment...

Our military is not always perfect. We have made some serious errors in numerous conflicts.

However, over the course of our warfighting history, we really are the good guys.
