Post Special Alumni Initiation?

Question for all you Chi-O's out there:

I have someone very close to me and my family that pledged Chi Omega in college, but never initiated. She was VERY involved in the sorority during her time, but financial hardships forced her to leave school before she initiated. She is now 26, married and a mother. She often speaks about her days in the sorority, and I can tell that it bothers her that she never initiated.

My question is does Chi Omega have any special initiate process that women who are no longer in college could be initiated? I know my own fraternity, Pi Kappa Alpha, has a Special Initiate program where we can initiate men that were either never in a college fraternity, or had once pledged Pike but not initiated.

I have looked at the Chi-O national webpage and came up empty for my search for a Special Initiate program, so I was hoping some of you Sisters out there could shed some light on the subject.

Thanks!

PS- I was just in Memphis for the Pike Officer Leadership Academy, and we toured our Memorial Headquarters...which is right next door to your HQ. MAN, that Chi-O HQ is HUGE!!! It really is a beautiful building and very impressive...all Chi-O's should visit it if you ever have the chance.

I'm not really sure about the policy on alumna initiation, but your friend could try to contact and alumnae chapter, or the regional director in her area. There's a directory on the Chi Omega website.
It's a shame your friend never got to initate, I hope she still will be able to!

Cool

Amy is correct - I contacted headquarters today and this is what they said...

Absolutely. Chi Omega offers an opportunity for women who were not
members of a Greek group to become Initiated members. This process is
called "Special Initiation." If you can give the young lady my name and
phone number, I will visit with her about this opportunity.

She gave me her name and number - I will email you private with it.

Thank you for the compliment re: our headquarters- one of my sisters went to visit and they literally rolled out the red carpet for her- they LOVE people to visit!!
