X-Box... easier to hack.
I had a friend totally fry his PS2 trying to put a mod chip in it.
If you're looking to go the legal route, I'd still say Xbox. Their online game playing is far superior to what PS2 has.

I recently bought an X-Box and have no complaints. I just wish it wasn't so bulky.

My brother says xbox because "it has better graphics" (this all coming from a 12 year old). He also says that its easier to use especially for playing DVD's and CD's...but I personally don't know, just passin along his advice

This is a basically true statement. The PS/2 has a 266MHz processor (I believe). The XBOX is 733MHz and it has a more powerful graphics processor.
Also, the Xbox comes with an 8GB hard drive for your save files. The PS/2 uses memory cards primarily. They're very small in comparison and fairly expensive. They also don't store much compared to the xbox hard drive.

X-box is the superior system in terms of graphics and stuff like that.
PS2 has a bigger game library but the system itself is prone to breaking. I've known of a few people who have had something go wrong with their ps2 a year or two after getting it.

I don't worry about graphics that much, nor processor speed. I am most interested in the games, and outside of Halo X-Box really has nothing for me.
