Bill Clinton's book

Figured this was more fitting for politics than entertainment forum.

Anyone get a copy yet? Mine should be arriving at my desk as soon as the UPS man gets here.

Regardless of political views, it should be an interesting thing to read.

I don't think I'll read it. It seems like media tie-ins with these books have just suddenly become this major craze. One fo these guys goes on a book tour and that's the freakin' top story. Bill Clinton's stupid book is leading over the turnover of power in Iraq.

It's not just Clinton, it's Woodward, Hannity et al. I'm a little tired of the political flavor of the week always having his new book out. It seems like politics is more and more motivated by book deals.

It's something I refuse to patronize. It'd be something I might borrow from someone or checkout at the library. Other than that, I'm not really interested.

I'm somewhat curious to read it, but I'll check it out from the library. I really don't want to contribute to his income. (yeah, I know, my $20-30 won't make a difference, but I'll feel better about it.)

Quick question related to this; I noticed at one of the book release parties (the one in NY I believe), that Paula Zahn and Barbara Walters made appearances and spoke to the media.

I find this to be slightly inappropriate for journalists to be at events like this, in a way supporting the book/author, especially when the author is someone like Bill Clinton.

Maybe it's just me though...what do you all think?

This is my feeling, too. I found's Letterman's statement to the effect that Clinton spends almost 1,000 pages detailing all the things that he denied doing a few years ago amusing.

It's often because the parent companies of their respective networks also own the publishing companies. Who's publishing Clinton's book? Time Warner does publishing and owns CNN, so there you have the company giving its other department free publicity. There's also Viacom who owns CBS and publishes major politician-written books as well.

If you paid taxes between 1992-2000, you've contributed to his income. Why stop there?

I'm librarying it. By the time I get it, the brouhaha should be over.

Good point...it's just something that bothers me I guess. It's the journalist in me popping out.

Not according to the New York Times. They trashed this book.

Got it today, but I have a feeling that I won't have a chance to read it for a couple of months. I'm in the process of meeting a deadline at work, buying a house (and moving), and studying for exams. Hopefully I can sneak in a few pages here and there.

I'm going to wait until the paperback edition comes out.
