Collegiate Webmaster

Which officer team does the webmaster belong to in your chapters? EO has (as far as I know) not designated a team but has referred to the position in Oracle. Just wondering where people have found it to work the best.

Does your chapter subscribe to a service for building/maintaining their site?

Thanks

I can't recall if webmaster was put in a team at HB but I would think PR committee would work best, since it is after all PR type job. We always lucked out in our chapter because we pretty much had one CS major or web savy sister in each class that was just handed the job. We never had to subscribe to a service, but I hear that EO is going to come out with web templates and a server for AAs and chapters so you might want to wait and check that out. Apparently they should be out whenever the PO renovation is done.

Our chapter webmaster happened to be an alumna, so we would send all our information to her through email to let her know what was new with the chapter and ideas to put on the site, and then when she'd come visit for Homecoming and other events we'd provide her with some pictures to go on the site, as well.

I agree with HBADPi, I think working with the PR team (which I think is with RVP, right?) would probably be the *best* place for the webmistress to work with/report to. The website is another great PR tool to use for recruitment and such, so that would probably make the most sense to me

The Recruitment Team makes the most sense to my mind because of the PR value. Also a lot of PNMs will look at the web site so it can be a great recruitment tool (if done right).

Ive heard that there is actually a webmaster position avaliable to any ADPi chapters. It is actually a postion people can ask to be put in and there is a dangle for it as well. Only reason I know is because I did it when I was active and it was its own thing, it wasnt part of PR or anything. We didnt have an election for it or anything.

Now Kidder does it for us, she is an alum. I think its just if someone wants the position then they can have it but a lot of people dont know a lot about websites and stuff.

You're right it's a new position. I think it became official 3 years ago and that's when they came out with the dangle and everything. Before my junior year it was just a part of the historian's job and then after that it became its own position, went on the slate and we voted.

Eta Omega just appointed a webmaster andf we put her on the Recruitment committee due to the fact that PR is under the recruitment umbrella. (I can't wait to send a link for our site when she finishes!)

We have had a webmaster a few years.

She has been on the RVP team and now is on the EVP team. I think it makes more sense on the RVP team as part of the 365 concept of recruitment. (really wish EO would rename it the Marketing VP -- it would really clarify the roles so much better!)

I would love to see a standard site for chapters -- but I hope that it is better constructed than Pride Online. My guess is most chapters (including ours) have already spent alot of money in design and hosting fees. It make take some real effort to adapt.
