Dating Younger Men
Would you date a younger man? If so, what is an acceptable age difference?
Given the fact that one or two of my Soror regulars have an idea how many candles I had on my last cake, I would date someone younger. Just not too young 'cause I don't wann sing the "Ballard of Cradle Rob and Me." Teena Marie fans will remember that song.

Giggy, very interesting topic.
I honestly don't know whether I would date a younger man. I have learned in these last few years that age really is just a number. For example, I'm 24 but compared to some of my friends who are the around same age, I am old.
I think you should date someone who is in your same life stage, but not necessarily the same age. Does that make sense?

I agree, date someone that can share in a lot of the same experiences that you have experienced, or currently experiencing. If they are much younger than you, it might be more of a mother/son type relationship where you are talking about what you are going through and he have no clue. Or he may be going through it and you provide him your personal experience. That is good to share ideas, but what can he do to share in your experiences. One key thing, if he makes you happy, then I am all for it.

I'm 35, 2 weeks from 36(and I look good and feel good). I've always had boyfriends and husbands my age or a few years older. But in the last few years, I've noticed that the men who approach me are younger by a few years, some up to 10 years younger. I'm presently happy and content in my 5 year relationship, but if that ever changes, I'll definitely date younger, would actually be looking forward to it.

I wouldn't date someone significantly younger. That's just because I think we wouldn't have much in common. But, I would have to decide that on an individual basis and not group everyone together. But in GENERAL, I would stay away from men who were more than a year younger than me. Plus, I prefer dating older men. They are usually more comfortable with who they are.

I hope yall don't mind me responding. I read the question, and decided to flip it. Would you all date a man considerably older? How much older?

To answer the first part...I actually had a brief spell with a man 5 years younger (it happens!lol) and I dated a man 10 years older.

While I would never date a younger man (women mature faster), I have dated older men. I once dated a man in his 30's while I was in college. My husband is 12 years older than me and I STILL wonder sometimes

I wouldn't date a man younger than me. I only date older men. Seeing as women mature faster than men you have to get someone older to be on the same maturity level as you. Don't mind the face I just thought it was cute

I suggested the topic because as woman we are socialized to NOT date young men. Dating and marrying older men is the norm. In fact many of us have grandmothers who are 10 years younger than our grandfathers. That is (was since they are both deceased) the case in my family. I have never dated a younger man (in years, only younger by a few weeks). I have always dated older men five or more years older. However, as a get older I think a lot can be said for staying away from Men over 30. LOL
It's time for Giggy Z to get her groove back! :-)

I don't mean to scare you sista; but one day YOU'LL be over 30, and you wont feel or look like you're ready for the grave. Think about it.
