Zeta History Lesson...
5 For The Most Esteemed Pearls
Good Morning Sorors, Brothers, Affiliates and Friends!
Often, I am told it is hard to find information on Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. And the truth is...ITS TRUE.
Historically, Zeta has been known for being an organization that does not boast of her Finer deeds. Eleanor Roosevelt, If you have to boast about your good deeds, then the good deed was not your ultimate goal. (Thanks for the correct quote Sands!)
And to a degree, I agree. However, I know and have met MANY women who are interested in Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, but unfortunately the 650+ chapters reigned by Zeta Phi Beta Sorority does not include their campus. *Don't fret ladies...ZETA PHI BETA SORORITY, INCORPORATED is GROWING everyday and if my organization finds it beneficial, we may even come to your campus!
Anyhoo, I am feeling very generous this morning. So today, August 6, 2000 10:31am EST I am going to share a link and hopefully my fellow Sorors will do the same (with discretion of course) a valuable piece of our RICH history.
In 1965 Dr. Elizabeth Duncan Koontz was inducted into the most prestigious
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated.
Curious? Who is this Finer Woman? http://members.aol.com/taylorteri/koontz.html

Sands.....Eleanor was on point, always.
If you have to boast about your good deeds, then the good deed was not your ultimate goal.

Excellent Soror Finer Woman 10 A 91...can you work with Candace from FW to put more tidbits up there? And did you add the historical pictures to FW.com? I haven't seen them yet since Boule.

Sorors and Sister friends, I am glad you all enjoyed my little history lesson. Since I work in 5's here is installment number 2.
Last week was a bit crazy with a project.
Enjoy!
Soprano Gail Gilmore is recognized for her highly successful performances throughout the world on both the opera and concert stage. Some of her engagements this season include a new production of Fosca by Brazilian composer Antonio Cartes Gomes, performances of Lohengrin in Warsaw, a tour of Aida in Gemany, as well as concerts with the Concertgebouw Orchestra and Royal Philharmonic.
Last season Ms. Gilmore appeared as Venus in Tannhäuser at the Teatro Municipal de Sao Paulo, presented a recital of spirituals and American songs at the Osaka International Cultural Association, and arias and duets of Puccini and Verdi with the Haifa Symphony. In May of 1997, she sang in two highly acclaimed concert performances with the Staatstheater Schwerin in the title role of Elektra, a recording of which will soon be available on CD. In the 95-96 season, Ms. Gilmore made her debut as Tosca in Strasbourg and has recently debuted in Germany as Turandot.
Recent seasons have marked her debuts with Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires as the Gräfin in Berg's Lulu, and Prague Opera House as the title role in Strauss' Salome. Equally well known for her concert appearances, she has performed Strauss' Vier Letzte Lieder, Berlioz's La Mort de Cleopatre, and various works by American composers including Samuel Barber, Leonard Bernstein and George Gershwin. In addition, Ms. Gilmore performs her own arrangements of gospels and spirituals, accompanying herself at the piano.
Gail Gilmore began her career as an artist-in-residence in several opera houses in Germany, including Wiesbaden, Nürnberg, and Frankfurt. In 1983, she made her Teatro La Fenice debut in Venice as Kundry in Parsifal, and in the Arena di Verona as Amneris in Aida. The following year, she returned to Verona, where she now appears regularly, to sing the title role in Carmen. Also that same year, she performed at La Scala as Venus in Tannhäuser. Ms. Gilmore made her debut with the Metropolitan Opera in 1986 as Kundry in Parsifal, a role which she also performed at Carnegie Hall. During the following seasons, she returned to the Metropolitan Opera as Venus, the Composer in Ariadne auf Naxos, and Die Walküre. 1989 marked her debut with the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow as Ortrud in Lohengrin.
Recently she has been contracted by the Etcetera label for 4 new recordings, to be released in 24 countries. Her previous recordings with Etcetera include Verdi's Composizioni de Camera and Strauss Lieder , as well as "Spirituals & Gospels" (December 1997). In addition, she has recorded opera arias on the Verdi label (1992), Gershwin songs with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of London on Sony (1993), and "Songs of American Composers" on Semaphore (February 1998).
Gail Gilmore was born in Washington, D.C. and raised in New Orleans. She studied at Xavier University in New Orleans and holds a Master's Degree in Music from Indiana University.
She is another Finer Woman of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated!!!!!
