State Chapters Unite

The North Carolina Chapters, Elon University, East Carolina, and Duke would like to get together and do some as AOII not just our individual chapters. Does anyone have any ideas?? ECU is about 2 hours from Duke and elon is about 1 hour. Let me know

Have a "State Day" for Founders' Day.

Join together for a Ritual Workshop.

Invite a PIP to speak. (Ginger Banks is awesome!)

Find a nursing home or Senior Citizens center that needs some love, and plant a rose garden there.

Roses,
Silver

Lightbulb AOII Days

If you are looking to do an AOII Day (that's what they are called now as you can do an area, not just a state), there is a manual on Alphalink under the Resources tab called "AOII Days".

It gives you a variety of ideas, formats (drive-in, 2 days), and the tyes of programming/events you can out on.

Do speak with your CNS as she will be a big help in helping ccordinate with other CNS's and CND's of the chapters involved.

Good luck!

I would PM AOPIROSE. She helped plan an awesome LA State Day this past March 2004. It was in New Orleans and it was so much fun for alumnae and collegiate members. She can tell what to do and what not to do.

Also, the chapter I advise Nu Beta at Ole Miss had Founders' Day 2004 with Kappa Omicron Chapter (Rhodes College in Memphis). Since Nu Beta is the only chapter in the state of Mississippi my members and local alumnae try to find any way possible to meet up with other sisters. We also had a formal a couple of years ago with the sisters of Arkansas State. And whenever Ole Miss plays another SEC school where there is an AOII chapter I know our girls will visit the other chapter and vice versa.

Good luck and let us know what ya'll plan! Idea sharing is always the best!!!

Thanks, OleMissGlitter!

This year was the best turn out in years. We had more then 100 sisters to attend over both days! Ninety came on Saturday alone. Sisters came from 6 collegiate chapters, including Nu Beta!, and 5 alumnae chapters.

In LA, we have been doing AOII Day for years. I got a copy of the new handbook but it really didn't help us because it's all stuff that we have done. Not that any of it is bad but we wanted to add a few new components.

On Friday night, we have an alumnae event. It's either cocktails or dinner. The turn out is pretty good. I would say that we had about 20 sisters. Saturday is the big day and we block out the time from 9 AM until 3 PM. We have a two general sessions and two break out sessions each for alumnae & collegians. We also have a lunch speaker. This year we added some awards to the regular awards. We added scrapbook and display board awards. The best thing about the display boards was that chapters got to get them out of the way before LI. We also added A-O-Cutie-Pi (collegians) and Flaming Alpha (alumnae) Awards. These were for each chapter to recognize an outstanding member at the state level.

We also chose as our theme, "It all started in a library" and collected books for a local pre-school program.

If anybody would like a copy of our packet, I can e-mail it to you.
