Greek Week...
OK.... I may be putting myself at risk of sounding REALLY stupid here... HOWEVER I am reading that new book Pledged (from the library, I'm not making that woman money) BUT as I was reading she was describing how some schools do the greek week matching by fraternities giving gifts and such to sororties like, (leaving them flowers, giving the girls matching jewelery etc) then serenading them, and thereby officially asking them to partner with them for greek week, and if they accept the girls would sing back later. Now, my school... doesn't even have a greek week ( I know it's pathetic) so I have NO clue how accurate this is or if it is like an old tradition that doesn't really take place anymore... my question is how DOES you school do pairings for homecoming and or greek week ??

My campus doesn't do pairings for greek week. There are 4 National sororities on my campus, 3 National Fraternities, and one local sorority. I am not sure how many of NPHC we have on campus. We just compete within each other. Basically, we have an over-all Greek Week champ, then a IFC Champ, CPH Champ, and NPHC Champ. We also hold our Greek Week in the fall.
We also don't have a homecoming because my school does not have a football team...but we have a week called WOCU (Week of the Campions at Oakland University)...and we don't really do anything during that week but I think we should...which shall be something I should bring up to Greek Council (lol, my brain just thought of that).
I would really love to see my campus get to the point were we will be able to team up. I think it will bring some the chapters together that aren't as close.

Never heard of this before. Our Greek Week is simply a week of events for points.

*shrug* That's what we do at Iowa State. Two fraternities paired up, then for Homecoming, fraternities plan a serenade to attract a sorority house in spring semester. If the sorority house accept the invitation to join the pair, well, the pairing is established.
Vice versa for Greek Week, a sorority house plan a serenade for a two-fraternities pairing.
What can I say? We just follow a hundred year tradition of Greek system at Iowa State.

We are paired up here at Cal State Long Beach but every year, you get a different partner so it's completely random. You never know who'll be your partner.

It's paired randomly at Auburn. This year our group is Sigma Nu, Zeta Tau Alpha, Sigma Pi, Phi Delta Theta and Kappa Alpha Psi!

It's pretty random here at Iowa, for homecoming and Greek Week I think they just draw names based on who's been with who before so you don't get paired up with the same house like two years in a row. My roommate was homecoming chair and she was told to come with a ranking of who we wanted, but when she got there like everyone drew a puzzle piece out of a like hat and who ever had the piece that fit yours, was who you were with, so it didn't matter who we really wanted or vice versa.

ISU also uses a seranading system for two events that are just ISU events - VEISHEA and Varieties. Not all chapters participate in these events, but the fraternities serenade the sororities for VEISHEA and the sororities serenade the fraternities for Varts.

Our Greek Week is just a week of organized events/competitions.
But for homecoming, the fraternities court the sororities like that. They decorate the house, come serenading, make banners, put their letters on our lawn, set up movie night on our lawn, bring ice cream, all kinds of cool stuff. At the end of the week, the sororities choose from the frats that courted them.
