Yahoo group: Guardians of the Diamond
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/guardians_of_the_diamond/
Hey girls,
So I just started the group with the above name.
I checked at Paypal, it can be done as a personal or a business. I was thinking business would probably be better but I'm not sure if we could get away with it without EO's approval. Otherwise it would be personal. Does anyone know anything about paypal?
P.S. I again made it an approval group so just let me know what your yahoo name is (if it isn't the same as the other yahoo group). Don't be offended though if I send an email asking you.

I joined! My yahoo name is Tggrsluv2bnce.
I don't know much about paypal -- it's usually how I pay for everything on ebay, but I use my personal checking account. I think you can deposit funds into an account with paypal and use it the same way. I posted this on the ebay thread, but I think we could all donate some money and start bidding as a group to save pins. We can create our own GC ADPi ebay name.

I don't know much about Paypal, but I'd recommend that we form an "online" Alumnae Association. Elect officers, and all that jazz. We can have virtual meetings, virtual fundraisers, etc. (I guess the best part is that we can have a web site!)
With support from EO, our viritual/online alum assoc can exist, and we can support ADPi how we choose (in this case, devoting ourselves to rescuing pins) along with promoting sisterhood, friendship and service.

adpiucf,
that is a GREAT idea. I believe that is how Gamma Phi or KKG started out with their program to save thier pins.
So how do we go about doing it? Using the Guardians of the Diamond group I just started up as our 'website' is totally fine by me. If I actually knew anything about creating websites, I would attempt to create one, but alas I don't.

I know only a little bit about Paypal through ebay...
The only difference between the Personal and "premiere" or merchant/business account is that personal accounts cannot recieve credit card payments and business accounts can (for a small transaction fee)
ETA: link for paypal info: http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr...g-fees-outside
I think it's an *awesome* idea for you to start Guardians of the Diamond! (although I really liked adpiucf's "Adelphean Avengers" name )

I'd say that you need to email the Alumnae Development Director of Chairs, Lorraine Alderman-Testa (you can get get info in the Pride Online Resource Guide, under the IO Director). Tell Lorraine that I sent ya
Tell her that due to the level of interaction you've had with ADPi women online, you want to start a "Virtual" Alumnae Association. You need at least 5 core members to form an alum assoc-- get the full names and contact info of at least 5 alumna to put on your roster. The purpose of the group will be to raise awareness of ADPi's mission of friendship and service. The group will have an e-newsletter (the Yahoo! Groups list), an online message board forum as it's meeting ground, will submit articles to the Adelphean as part of its AA updates, will elect officers, pay any International fees, etc. Mention also that the group will collect the ebay names of any ADPi collegians/alumnae who want to participate and send out regular notices of sorority ritual or history paraphernalia that is on sale at an online auction. The group will also make it a point to take contributions to buy back sorority paraphernalia to donate back to EO.

You're welcome! I think that by functioning as an alumnae association, your cause can gain greater credibility and easier acceptance. For example, if the Timbuktu Alumnae Association decided that it wanted to start collecting and donating pins from EBay to EO, that would be seen as an honorable and nice extra thing that AA was doing, as opposed to trying to get IO's to sign off on a rather radical concept of vigilante collectors. Oh, you know what I mean!!!
I'd come up with an easy on the eyes kind of name-- like the Cyberspace Alumnae Assoc, the ADPi's Online Alumnae Assoc, World Wide Web ADPi Alumnae Assoc, etc. Find how Kappa and Gamma Phi set up checking accounts for their online associations, too. the more info you take into ADPi, and the more thoughtout the plan, the better your ammo.
Also, explain another great purpose-- women can naturally have dual membership in this assoc and others that are local. BUT the greatest thing about this assoc is that alum who haven't been involved for a while may want to be part of the virtual AA -- b/c there are no time committments. AND your collegians who are just graduating can instantly connect with this concept of an alum assoc--- the idea that ADPi is for a lifetime-- b/c it's online and at their leisure AND thanks to the virutal nature and our message board, we can tout alumnae life and help place these recent grads in a local area assocation close to them!
Brianna, pick your core 5 and write your purpose. I think you may have something here! I'm here to support y'all!

Brianna,
I e-mailed you all the info from my cox account, but I rarely check that account (I hate how my computer default e-mail account is set up as my cox account whenever I click on an e-mail address)

Count me in!!!!
One question though -- since I am technically still a collegian, could I join the "virtual" Alum. Association?
I won't be graduating until this December, so maybe I could be an honorary member until then?

One more point- if you do get to charter an alumnae association, you'll have a vote at Convention!
