I had said that the retention rate when we pledged 90% sophomores (with the rest freshmen or juniors) was good, but thinking about it, I'm pretty sure it would NOT have been good if most people had started as freshmen.
Not to thread-hijack, but what's the point of focusing on freshman during rush, as it seems is done at many Southern/Western school? Or is it that as a Greek system gets more competitive, women think they have to join freshman year or forget it?
It would be facinating to see statistics comparing senior retention/ participation between mostly-freshmen campuses and mostly-soph campuses, and looking at what influence housing has (dorm housing vs. sorority house vs. no house - just a meeting place). Don't know how they would measure retention where sororities keep inactive members "on the books", but it would still be interesting.
