Happy Groundhog Day!

Does your area have a local groundhog? What did he/she say? Will you have an early spring or six more weeks of winter? Wiarton Willie, an albino groundhog from Wiarton, Ontario, did, unfortunately, see his shadow, so there'll be another 6 more weeks of winter here.

That stupid ground hog should be shot. Every year it sees his shadow. I think we should get another animal.

We have a long winter every year - has there been a year where we've generally had "spring-like" weather from mid-march on? No, it always snows at least once in April. Or in bad years, May.

Exactly! That's why I am saying we should get rid of Willy, and the groundhog all together. We need a new animal...(of course you all know I am joking )

I used to always wonder- what people go to groundhog day?
I know something like 40000 people show up - are they old people? foreigners? people from nearby?

Seems like such an odd event.

There are quite a few schools within reasonable driving distance of Puxatawney Phil... A lot of my friends have gone up different years- it's a huge party.
Although I did just read today that they banned alcohol in Puxatawney that weekend or something... I doubt it stopped anyone.

groundhog day is always extra special for my family.

when i was in the 2nd grade, the day b/4 groundhog day, my parents said something to piss me off....like, something to the effect of "don't you ever quit talking"....my how things don't really change.

so, the next day i walked into the kitchen for breakfast b/4 school, and i wouldn't talk to anyone. instead of the agonizing reaction of apologies i thought everyone would give me, they screamed in jubilation. a$$holes.

so, every feb 2nd from then on out was "monica no-talk day"....

my parents miss the true celebration of the event.

i feel the love, everywhere.

Groundhog's day, good Bill Murray movie. Not as good as caddyshack, yet funny still.
