A little emotional support

Ladies,

I need your help to keep myself sane for the next two weeks. I have a sh*tload of grad school projects, papers, and midterms that I have had several mini-breakdowns over the past couple of days. Its gotten so bad that I have seriously questioned whether or not I am cut out for this. I know everyone goes through this self-doubt at some point but my support system is mostly on the east coast so I dont get to talk to sisters, family, and friends during the week. My only outlet for stress relief was/is the gym and I havent had time to go since last week.

Just keep me in your thoughts and prayers and let me know if you think of any good stress relief ideas so I wont go completely crazy by the time spring break rolls around.

You guys are the greatest!

You are right - everyone in grad school questions their judgment/sanity at times! I'm sure that you'll do just fine - take the deep breaths, think cleansing thoughts, hide the credit cards...

You'll be in my prayers, Sweetie!

You are definitely in my thoughts & prayers!

Sometimes I have the whole self-doubt thing (almost ALWAYS around final exams...) and I've found what really helps is a couple of hours of just *YOU* time.... some of my fav things do:

* deep clean pores with a mud mask (about $3.00 at your neighborhood grocery store!)

* soak in a bubble bath with lots of candles, and a warm bead eye-mask (can be found at the stores for about $3!)

* sit down and read a good book for fun. (we all know we HAVE to read for class, but read something you really want to... even if just for a little while!)

* call up that friend you haven't talked to in awhile and catch up (this will help you relax, as long as you don't talk about all the stressful stuff you have to do)

Above all things (and I'm sure you probably know this, but sometimes we all need some reminding) *do not procrastinate*!!! It is your enemy. Otherwise you'll be feeling 1000x worse in a few more weeks.

I hope everything works out for you and you achieve your goals this semester!!!

L&L,
t*p

This is hilarious! I've now bookmarked both sites for when I'm stressing (and believe me, with this semester's work, it'll be a pretty common occurance! )

Throw your books out the window while driving down the highways.

Flush all your projects down the toilet or send them through the garbage disposal.

Play hookie and come "Star-gazing" in Houston this weekend.

OH! WAIT!! This list is what NOT to do! Nevermind, Scratch that, do the opposite!!

i like to use this system to get through the tough times. first, make a list of every project you have and when it is do. next put the projects in an order, starting with the ones due first. then, look at your schedule and pull out all your chunks of working time. then, for the next 2 days, make a schedule of the work you're going to do on the project and when you're going to do it. repeat when you're finished with those 2 days' worth of tasks. repeat. be sure to schedule in at least 30-60 minutes of fun/relaxation a day. every time you're finished with a project, mark it off your first list-that way you can see that you're making progress. before you know it, your most stressful weeks will have passed and spring break will be here!

and if all else fails, look at this when you need to smile

I have soooooooo been there with regards to postgrad work driving me to the point of upset.

I feel for you and wish you the best! Remember, if you weren't good enough, they wouldn't have accepted you into the program!

So here you go....this picture always makes me laugh!

You guys rock! Thank you so much for the support. I felt like a big loser posting that thread but my elementary school teacher always told me if you need support you need to let people know otherwise they wont know how to help. Guess that's suck with me since then. All your good vibes must have done the trick because the work load doesnt seem to be as daunting as it was before. I have a good grasp on it and I'm hoping the next 48 hours will see an end to the current work load (that is of course until monday when I get to start studying for my 3 midterms!!).

Thanks again!
