Lisa,

I was raised Catholic all my life, and I didn't really get to learn about Hanukkah until recently...but I wanted to wish you and our Jewish sisters a very Happy Hanukkah.

....Still jealous that y'all get EIGHT CRAZY NIGHTS.

Happy Hannukah to our Jewish Squirrels! (now envisioning little squirrels running around the forest wearing yarmulkes...)

Could someone explain to me why there are two different spellings for Hanukkah- one starting with an H and the other with a C? I've always wondered!

Susan, There are several ways to spell Hanukkah because it is a transliteration of the Hebrew word. You have to make the hard gutteral sound "CH" with a throat roll at the first sylaball. So you can spell Hanukkah, Hanukah, Chanukah or Chanukkah. I've always prefered using Hanukkah. It's just personal choice.

Thank you for explaining why I've seen so many spellings!
