Odd Tidbit - What Do You Think?
in doing some research, i ran across this article and was a little skeeved when i ran across the following excerpts. what do you think?
Preps-to-pros players rely on support system
... Putting down their PlayStation consoles or turning off the latest hit DVD to gather around on beanbags and plush couches to hear Garnett, the den father, are Tracy McGrady, Amare Stoudemire, Tyson Chandler and new rushee LeBron James, among others. ... It's Sigma Kappa. Or Skipped Kollege, er, college. ... "We're definitely like a high-school sorority and I'm saying 'sorority' because we didn't go to college," said Indiana forward Jermaine O'Neal, knowing guys join fraternities. "We all talk by phone or two-way each other, especially when we come to each other's town, and we stick together."
'the hell?

I think he made it evident several times in his sound byte that he "didn't go to college"...

I'm not impressed with these prep-to-pros kiddies. To me, they will probably be like the little cute child stars that "everybody" loves until they are not at "cute" age anymore.
They, esp. LeBron, are totally P.R. driven and so are the leeches that promote them. and the suckers that buy into the hype.

Perhaps you haven't noticed by Lebron James is straight nasty, and has the PPG and skills to back it up. Yeah he was over hyped but he is living up to it, as are guys like Tmac, Kobe, and KG.

I think you should loosen your belt there a bit, zuzu... you're taking their little club just a tad too seriously.
I could be mistaken, but I would be shocked if any of those guys had any idea that there is an NPC sorority named Sigma Kappa. In fact, I would be shocked if they had any idea there was an NPC, come to think of it.

well, i don't care of it myself. don't really care for my letters being used to represent them. i earned my letters and think it's disrespectful to see those guys using them like that.

Come on, Sigma Kappa aren't just two random ass Greek letters that someone would pull out. If it was Delta Zeta I'm sure you wouldn't be happy.

Ditto~ chances are at least 9 out of 10 if not greater that they have no clue what Sigma Kappa is, and chances are also equally that high that they don't care. They say what the letters mean to them and you can tell it's sort of a joke. It's almost like people making up fraternities/sororities like SEC and KEG for a joke.

Whoa! Down, Killer!
No, they aren't, ahem, "random ass Greek letters". Did you read the excerpt from the article?
"...It's Sigma Kappa. Or Skipped Kollege, er, college. ..."We're definitely like a high-school sorority and I'm saying 'sorority' because we didn't go to college," said Indiana forward Jermaine O'Neal
Do you have some sort of odd conspiracy theory that there are hordes of teenage boys running around looking for english language word combinations that match up with NPC sororities' names?
Jermaine: "Hey guys, I found a copy of the Baird's Manual. Why don't we go through and find a fraternity, no, wait, a sorority and then make up our own meaning for the letters?"
LeBron: "Wow, Jermaine, that sounds like a lot of fun! I've always wanted to make up my own meaning for sorority letters!"
What are you going to do now? Contact the owner of the Florida Marlins and demand that he change the team's name because they stole your letters? Should I perhaps contact the Detroit Zoo and ask them where they get off using "D" and "Z"? Clearly, those are MY letters, right?

Was I the only one laughing because O'Neal said they were "like a high school sorority"? Come on...these guys don't know the difference between a sorority and a fraternity! Plus, it seems to me like the WRITER of the article used the Skipped Kollege/Sigma Kappa thingie. Not the B'ball players. I am sure they are not walking around calling themselves the Sigma Kappas and I doubt they they are running out to get t-shirts made.

From what I understand they were just wearing bustiers and thigh-highs
--'Cause, really, why wear stilletto heels when you're that tall?
