CLEP Exams

Ok, so I recently found out that I am required to take an American History class as part of the requirements for my Elementary Education degree. I love history but do not have time in my schedule to take an American History class, so I want to take the CLEP exam for American History II (1877 to present). has anyone ever taken a CLEP exam and how was it, hard/easy, confusing/strait forward, etc. If anyone has any info, please let me know! I have already purchased a study book for it, but I would like an actual person's experience with it.
If you have taken the American History II (1877-present), that would be bonus points for me! But any experience with CLEP would also be helpful!
Thanks, please... someone respond!!
Woohoo, my 100th post!!

Well, I know this sounds bad, but one of my sisters took some CLEP exams (she ended up graduating a year early with all the credit she got) and did well enough to test out of some courses, and she isn't exactly Einstein. I'm not saying she's dumb; she's just like anybody else, so I know you don't have to be a Mensa member to pass those things.

i'm bringing this up because I've decided to pursue a Secondary Education teaching certificate after I graduate from school this may b/c my sociology tegree will take me nowhere... I need to CLEP a few credits so i don't have deficiences in the program.

Here's what I need to CLEP:
College Algebra (shouldn't be too bad - I was always good at algebra in high school - i just haven't done it in 4 years...)
Biology (this one i'm scared about - i hate science)
US History 1865- Present

Has anyone out there taken any of the above CLEP exams, or have you taken ANY CLEP exams period? What were they like? Is it like the under $8,000 questions on who wants to be a millionare - or am going to seriously have to study these? Thanks

I would suggest, if you haven't already done so, that you speak with the department chairs/deans/big person(s) in charge first to make sure that these CLEPs are acceptable for your program.

I work at a Community College. I remember a young lady that was accepted into a Physical Therapy program and had previously CLEPped General Biology (which was a prerequisite). Unfortunately, the program didn't accept CLEP, so she had to sit in a class that she had already received credit for.
