Why did you leave out the last stanza?

At the opening business meeting of Convention, we sing "O Canada!" along with the Star Spangled Banner. I never really knew the words to the song, but knew the tune because I once saw Kurt Browning skate to it once.

I was at a bar last week and they had an impromptu talent show. A girl from Canada (we knew she was from Canada because ppl were giving her ISHT the whole night) got up in front of an entire room of drunks and sang the Star Spangled Banner. I thought it was a cute gesture.

Although I'm sure most Canadians who have sung "God Save the Queen" only have sung the first verse.

Back in my elementary school days we always sang two verses of "Oh Canada" - the first one you listed, and then

O Canada! Where pines and maples grow.
Great prairies spread and lordly rivers flow.
From East to Western Sea,
How dear to us thy broad domain,
Thou land of hope for all who toil!
Thou True North, strong and free

And, of course, since I went to a performing arts school, we sang it in 4 part harmony. And if they didn't think we sang it well, we would sing it again.

As for "God Save the Queen"... we learnt it for some special occasion, but didn't end up performing it. I'm glad I know it though.

Every wednesday assembly we would sing O Canada: one week in English and the next week in French. We also sang God Save the Queen at special events, such as Remembrance Day and Grad ceremonies.

We always sing both Canadian and American athemns at convention, but last year was kind of funny. The canadian sister who sang only knew the French version, so she needed the words in English. The English version was written in the program for our American sisters; however we did the usual switch between English and French . Threw everyone off.
