Talking our mascot

Hey ladies I have a question, how did the turtle become our unoffical mascot? I heard it was in honor of one of our sister's whom passed away. Is that true? I also heard because of a saying that I can't remember. If any of you know please tell me

Love in DZ,

I am disaffiliated right now for fall rush, but I can't stay way. I have been trying really hard, but Delta Zeta is like a drug
I was told that our mascot was once a frog. When the past
national president was traveling as a Chapter Consultant, she
would hand out turtles to the houses she went to. Her take on it was that
"you can only make progress with you stick your next out",
so when she became the national president it was changed.

I don't know if this is true, but I hope it helps.

I love Delta Zeta and I can't wait to come home

Thanks for responding That was the saying I heard when I was rushing DZ last fall. Maybe that story is true.

One of my sisters told me that since our philanthropy is the Speech and Hearing Impaired, the turtle is our mascot because it can neither speak nor hear. But I don't know if that's true or not.

Talking

Wow, I never heard that one. We have two stories in my chapter. One of course, because of the speech and hearing impaired....
The other story we all learned was that back when the founding sisters still lived in their original house. One of the fraternities on campus (maybe Sigma Chi) thought it would be funny to put a turtle on their porch. Those ladies adopted the turtle and that is how we got the turtle. But knowing my chapter, they tend to make up a lot of little stories to make things interesting....
