Question Anyone see Timeline?

I saw Timeline over the weekend and liked it. The action scenes really stood out to me and it was good to see some battles without a ton of CGI.

I also thought the film rolled through the plot nicely.

Any other thoughts?

Have you read the book?

I've read it twice, and watching the commercials for Timeline it just didn't look like the movie can be anywhere near it. I know that's true for most books-->movies, but i have a sense that this one will be especially bad.

Read the book, it's awesome, one of Crichton's best, IMO.

I have heard good things about this movie. I hope to see it soon. I'm trying to set up a date for it and Return of the King (midnight showing/premiere).

I saw it, I didn't read the book, it was an alright film...not what I expected, but like I said, I didn't read the book. There were some cheesy parts...but overall a good matinee flick.

I only read the book but at the time when they showed the previews to the movie I didn't make the connection until it mentioned it was based on Michael Crichton's book. I'll have to catch the movie sometime.

Is Gerard Butler a newbie or just not well known in the movie industry?

He's not a "newbie" but he is starting to get more attention (and rightfully so). Everyone I've talked to who has seen Timeline thinks Gerard did a great job and I agree.
