Name names

People name names. Mods, stop deleteing everything against another mod. That doesn't look right.

In an effort to help improve the overall atmosphere in the general Chit Chat forums, I've asked the Chit Chat mods to begin enforcing the site rules a bit more strictly.

Personal attacks against mods or other site members will be removed. The public forums are not the place for dealing with personal arguments or issues - that should be worked out via private communications.

We are trying to clean up the CC forums. There has been so much anger, frustration, arguments/flames, inappropriate messages & etc in various threads and messages in this area of the site for too long. The CC forums make up the busiest area of the site and we are working to make this a more welcoming and pleasant environment for everyone.

I would appreciate your help in this matter.

Thanks,

- John

Okay that makes sence. I was coming from the point of view, if you have something to say about person, you should be prepared to have to deal with that person, basically if you would call some one out only talk behind backs, but let us know so that we can we can ignore you. Just my opinion. I see your logic though, and aprrecite said thoughts.

Yea, name names BIlly.

Man up and realize that not all mods do it.

Therefore, don't use "Mods" as a general term. It doesn't look right when people like you group all of the mods together.

Hi OP,

Just a thought. The reason some of us (I did, for sure) began deleting posts that named names is that the whole forum was becomming a big bunch of personal attacks.

Confrontation is not necessarily bad, but I think there is a time and place for it.

In "public" is not always the right place.

Hope that makes sense to you.

I think it is good to clean up the forum a bit but don't make it boring. Also I think some people are afraid to post anything now because it may get deleted. Mods make sure you keep a level head and don't go delete happy for no reason. Think of us little people!

We do. We think "will this mess up my shoes if I step on their head?"

Ha-ha.

My thoughts...

People who usually get their stuff deleted probably post that stuff to get a rile out of everybody. Those who have been getting their posts deleted recently probably have that intent, and they know that it'll be taken off as soon as they hit 'Submit'.

So don't be using that "some people are afraid to post now because it might get deleted" crap because I'd like assume that most of us here (with maybe two or three people with shat for brains) have COMMON SENSE. If you have something to say, say it. But if you think that what you have to say is inappropriate and it compromises the well-being of the boards, take it to the PMs.

Thank you Blaine for bringing up the fact that mods shouldn't be categorized as one. Just because certain action's being taken doesn't necessarily mean that it's a unanimous decision. But still, I don't tell a mod how to do his/her job because I'd hate for that kind of treatment for me.

Well some times it can be hard to tell how people are going to take a comment. See, people will be accused of starting trouble when in fact they could be not trying to do that at all. Some one can easily come along and blow up over a comment that means nothing. So when I say, some people might be afraid to post, it could be for that reason, no one ever knows how some one is going to react. And I am still trying harder.

There's a real easy way to keep posts from being deleted.

Be civil.

And be careful and thoughtful about your use of words.

If you are about to post something about someone else, that you wouldn't want said to or about you -- don't post it. Think of a better way to say it.

Disagreements are welcome as long as they're respectful.

Thanks Delt that was what I was trying to say, along with go ahead and say it. Damasa I didn't mean to offend you by grouping all mods together. I wasn't trying to group all mods together, I was saying, as a mod, mods should set the example. I'd rather have some one say "I dissagre with Billy/OP or Billy/OP is wrong because..." than "I disagree with people who say that" that way they can at least defend their position. So for a personal attack I'd rather have some one call me out than talk isht about me, but not have the balls to mention to my name, or to come to me to see whats up, rather than just assume things. You're right that this has become personal, though. Just my two cents.
