I've been fired once and it was actually funny to me. I was 19 and working in a retail store...Filene's Basement (it went out of business later, so I was happy). Anyway, you know how retail stores give employees and their families discounts? Well, I got a 20% discount on clothing and so did my family (mom, sis, dad, brother). So, one day, my sister comes in and picks out some clothes that she wants. She gives me the money and then leaves because the line was too long to wait and I told her I could buy them at closing. Well, the security guard (black man) saw her give me the money and viewed it as me taking money from a friend to try and get them a discount. So he told my manager who pulled me in her office, showed me on camera and said that I was caught trying to "abuse the discount program". I told her it was my sister, but they didn't believe me and my sister had already left. I was fired on the spot. At the time, I was pissed, but now that I look back, I laugh myself silly because it was such a bad job anyway. Oh well, I hope I never get fired again though! It's too serious of an issue now! Got bills to pay, a nightlife to live.

Cool

My very first job, I was around 18,19, working at a dental office. Well, the woman I worked for quit, so there wasn't much for me to do after that. I mean, there were some days where I had absolutely nothing to do and to look busy I would redo stuff I already did!!!! Well I got tired of that real quick and started missing a whole bunch of days-during which I decided to quit. Got back to the ofice and told my manager that I couldn't work there anymore because there was nothing for me to do and he was like good-cause I was about to fire you......

I've been fired once! And I still to this DAY can't believe it. Lemme tell yall, lol.

I was hired as an admissions counselor for a court reporting school. Well, the director of the school was a Black woman, had her Ph.D. Well, at the end of my first day, I'd confided in her how nice it was to see a Black woman in her position, how it was motivational, blah blah blah. On my second day, she told me she didn't know how exactly to take what I had told her, and was leaning toward being offended. That was RED FLAG number one.

RED FLAG #2, her daughter is an AKA perp. I wasn't a soror at the time, so all I could do was sit and STEW about it. Anyway, she did next to nothing, but she got her own parking spot, while I had to pay. Bunch of BS.

RED FLAG #3. They told me not to be personable with the potential students. That is JUST the opposite of me, lol, I'm a social butterfly! So I tried, yall, I did. But me and this one dude were having a conversation, and we were joking and laughing, I wanted him to be comfortable. She saw that.

The next day (14 days after I started) she fired me. Told me that they didn't want the potential students to be comfortable because (get this) if they were, it would be easier for them to say NO to enrollment. They wanted to push for the students to enroll REGARDLESS of whether or not it was the right time for them. I told her I was glad that she was firing me, because I don't get down like that. That is fake and phony. I left and never looked back.

My next job put me in telecom. So I see it as a blessing. That chick was CRAZY!!

Red face

I am kinda embarrased to admit that I have been, once, but I have done everything in my power to make sure that it never will happen again...When I was in high school, I had gotten a job working for Verizon (back then it was Bell Atlantic) in their customer service dept...we had to go through a two-week training course, during which we were not permitted to be absent or late...on the next-to-last day of training class, it was raining like cats and dogs and my bus was late...I arrived @ work 5 whole minutes late, and the next thing I know, I'm being "invited to leave" (my own phrase which sounds a little better than I was fired ) I was upset @ first because I knew that I was one of the best reps in my class, but I took a two-week hiatus from work, and found another job for the summer that paid me more
