I just finished the book on last Friday and all I can say is great book. The turn of events were striking and not to be suspected by the reader. I do recommend everyone to put this book in your personal collection

Greetings Ladies:
I had the pleasure of meeting Sister Souljah at a book signing and discussion when she first published The Coldest Winter Ever almost two years ago. The woman is indeed phenomenal. The book was good and I'd recommend her other, No Disrespect. The message that she signed in my book is so inspirational and sometimes I just look at it b/c it was what I was going through at the time. She'll be on tour this fall with the Tampax Total You Tour..
Take Care,
Cookee

Hello Sorors and Sisterfriends! I read the book too. Of her two books I think that her first book was juicier! It was an autobiography but Sistergirl lead a juicy life! Coldest Winter ever was a page turner too. All the glitz, cars, fancy clothes etc. made Drug dealing sound not too bad but then Souljah got down to the real deal! By the end of the book I felt both disgusted with and sorry for the main character. To me Sister Souljah's writing is so colorful. You can smell the smells, hear the sounds etc. I felt like a fly on the wall following the characters around.

It's me again. I forgot to mention that my twin sister interviewed her via phone for her station and was also impressed with how real she is. Do any of you remember her weekend spots on the radio in New York? She was militant and shot from the hip. Definitely a woman that we all can respect for speaking her truth and not fearing what others will think.

Greetings All,
I finished The Coldest Winter Ever about 2 weeks ago and I am feeling compelled to read it again now. After that book I have not had any desire to read anything else. I too could not put the book down....10AM, 3PM, 2:15 AM, the bedroom, work, bathroom, car ( I wasn't driving ) ).
Stunning Jade, I do remember her spots on the radio show.....and yes everyone thought she was the militant one....she was merely expressing her viewpoints.
If you have not read this book ladies, please read it soon.

Okay, why was I reading this book all day yesterday as soon as it came in the mail? And why did I read all of that puppy in one day? Exciting book!
Actually, I like Sister Souljah the Author way better than I did Sister Souljah the rapper!

I recently read "Coldest Winter Ever" and I have to say it was okay. The book didn't sit well with me because partway through it I realized I'm reading a book about a 16 year old brat who is more concerned with her weak "hustles" or what Chanel dress she was going to buy rather than worry about her crumbling life, her strung out mother and her convict dad. She was weak minded and not very smart at all. Well, a little street smart but not as much as she thought she had. The book was okay but Souljah could've gave the character mor depth and substance. Winter got on my nerves the whole book....

I am so glad someone is finally talking about this book. I had the pleasure of reading it over a year ago, around the same time I bought "Sorority Sister", A very good older friend saw me reading "Sorority Sisters" and asked me how it was. I told her that I loved it and she knows of my aspirations to become a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha. She said that to be a woman of AKA you must be able to expand beyond superficial qualities like beauty and fashion and reach deep in your soul. She gave me "The Coldest Winter" and told me to let her know what I think. I read the book in two days with a full clas load and full time job. The book was so stirring, however, I really hated the end. I was a fan of Sista Souljah a long time ago and was very dissappointed when her appearance at our school was cancelled. So my opinion on the book is "waving" Hey Diamon

I began reading the book last summer but got turned off quickly by the personality of Winter. However after hearing a couple of people discussing it I decided to read it again and I must admitt it was a very good. I, like Discgoddess, read it in one day.

This book didn't sit well with me at all. I have a hard time identifying with her character. She was a spoiled brat and proud of the misgivings of her family i.e. selling drugs to their own community. While they lived it up in a nice house. That burned me up. I finished the book though and laughed as she basically played herself. It just seemed so distant from me.

I have not heard so many mixed emotions about one book as I have about this one. I am so curious about this book but I really do not want to waste my time. I am still in the middle of "Behold a Pale Horse"!!! Anyway, for every 10 women who tell me this is a great book, another 7 say it is dumb. I heard that Sister Souljah is a character in the book!!!! Wassup with that??? That turns me off from it just a lil bit, reminds me of old episodes of Scooby Doo when real celebrities were written into the show. I'll be sure to give my .08 cents when I finally do read it though.
