Stupid Alarm Clock Stories

Does anyone else have stupid alarm clock stories?

The other night, my husband thought that he heard the alarm clock go off (I seriously doubt it did!) He got the whole family up, insisting that we were running late, and about 20 minutes later--as we were running around crazily-- one of the kids said, "Why does my watch say 3:50?"

LOL!!! It WAS 3:50!!!

We all gratefully fell back into bed.

Last year I had a really important presentation at 8 in the morning. As I was setting my alarm clock the night before, I jokingly remarked to my roommate that I hoped the ghost in the room next door (who likes to play tricks) didn't mess with my alarm clock and make me late. Well, guess what...my alarm clock didn't go off even though I had it turned on with the correct time set and everything! That sucked...

My ex had a HORRID time with his alarm clock (mostly I think it was the user...ha ha ha). So I went to this store like a Sharper Image. I bought him this new, state-of-the-art type alarm clock that will NEVER shut off. Like if you unplug it, it will remember what the time should be, what your settings were...etc. So even if the power goes out and comes back on, it is still set! I shoulda taken it with me when I left

When I was in grad school, one very tough professor made a statement the day before the final...that if anyone was late for the exam, they would miss the art slides and that was 30% of the test. (So obviously, the best you could do on the exam if you missed the slides was a 70!) Well, I had never been late to class, but I got so freaked out that my alarm would malfunction that I couldn't go to sleep!

P.S. Happy ending to the story -- I did well on the exam!

My alarm clock is good for exactly one thing: waking my husband up.

My freshman year, I spilled soda all over my alarm clock. Surprisingly, it still works. The snooze button will get stuck every once in a while but that's it.

The other day I was at the boyfriend's and I set the alarm clock for 7am so I could be up for work. Yawn. I didn't realize that I accidently set it for 7pm. Around 7:55, I randomly woke up and realized that I had to be at work in 5 minutes. That was hell.

Another time, his alarm clock never went off. It was set correctly and everything. I ended up missing a quiz I had in class that day.

i remember i woke and looked at the clock- i thought it said 4:30 a.m. so i jumped out of bed and ran to the bathroom. while i was in there, i realized that the clock didnt say 4:30. so i went back to the clock and it said 1:30. dont know how i misread that but i was sure happy to get back in bed.

CLASSIC!! LMAO

My first year teaching, I did not have a car so I used to walk to work. Some mornings I got up earlier to stop at the Kroger on the way to work. Well one Sunday night I set my alarm for 5:00a.m.

The next morning I got up and was THE FIRST to arrive to work even before the custodians so I sat outside in the dark. Well when I got inside FINALLY, it said 5:30a.m.

I had set my clock up an hour so when I got up it was really 4:00a.m.

A few years back, I worked for a company where I was on travel. Every Monday at 8am, I caught a flight out of Boston to where I was working, and every Thursday I flew home. I lived in an apartment that was about a 10min taxi ride from Logan Airport. I would pack and lay out my clothes Sunday night, so I could wake up at 6, shower, dress, grab a bite to eat, and head to the airport.

Like I said, my alarm clock is good only for waking my husband up. So one Monday morning, I was lying in bed half-awake, punching my snooze bar every 7 minutes and otherwise just lying there dozing.

Around 7am my husband shook me awake.

Him: "It's seven o'clock."
Me: "So what?"
Him: "You have to catch a flight at eight."
Me: <words that cannot be repeated in polite company>

I have never moved so fast in my life... but I made my flight.

Once I was in summer school and had a test the next morning, so I made sure to set it for 7:00 (the test was at 8 but it took me nearly half an hour to get there!) and then hopped in bed around 10, having studied for about 30 minutes in final preparation. Well, the next morning I woke up feeling strangely refreshed and I thought it strange that I was up before my alarm. I looked at the clock and it was blinking 4:00-something. Then I checked my cell phone...it was 9:40! Ack!! Later I found out Alabama Power was doing line work starting early that morning and knocked out my damn electricity. My prof was not to thrilled but did let me make it up.

Interestingly enough, I had an alarm clock moment this morning.

It went off at 7am as scheduled, but I decided I could use another 30 minutes to sleep. So, I set it for 7:30.

But I forgot to turn the alarm back ON. I woke up at 8am and freaking out.

I ended up calling in to work to cancel my 2 hour shift this morning because by the time I could make it there, it would be half over.

My alarm is so loud you jump when it goes off. Well once a couple years ago, apparently I was in one of those dead sleeps and happened to be close to the edge of my bed(my dog had taken over and pushed her feet out) and when the alarm went off I jumped and fell out of my bed into the floor....rude awakening.

Freshman Year of College I had an 8am class. I slept through my alarm so many times that I had to buy two more alarm clocks and put them all around my room to make it to class on time. I still ended up with the most absences in the class.
