Black women & white women

Can a black woman and white woman be "BEST FRIENDS"?
If your best friend is another race how do you maintain that friendship without prejudice coming into play, even subtle?

I don't see why not. When I was in elementary school my best friend was White but we drifted a part when we went to different high schools.

I'm sure race will always come up in interracial relationships but the key is to be honest with it and face it head on...

Absolutely! Although my best friends are 3000 miles away, we are still like sisters . The both were in my wedding.

They sure can!

I am Black (Jamaican) and my best friend is Spanish and European. She looks Caucasian to anyone just passing her by. We have been best friends for 15 years, since 1988!!!

Sometimes people make snide comments...like when we were in NYC. Someone said something like "Salt n Pepa". It takes a confident person to just laugh it off.

Two of my bestest friends in the whole wide world are both Caucasian. Actually, Katy is 1/2 German and Persian and Chris is German & Irish. I would not trade them for the world! We've had our discussions and arguments about race in the US. We've agreed and disagreed. We're still friends, both over 12 years now. I was maid of honor for one and bridesmaid for the other. Like any relationship, it takes work to keep them going. Regardless of race, religion, etc. The three of us are friends because we all accept & appreciate each other for who and what we are. I'm lucky to have friends like that. The only thing now is that they both live at least an hour away from me--Katy northeast in Sacto (Sacramento) and Chris in San Jose. But then it makes me appreciate them more when I visit them.

Yeah, one of my bestfriends in preschool through elementary school was a white girl. That was until I found out that she hadn't told her parents that she had black friends...long story.

But, people of all races and ethnicities can be friends. It takes communication and understanding, though. There's nothing worse (so, I'm exaggerating) than someone disliking a certain race, but having a friend of that race, and justifying your friendship by saying "Becky's different, she's not like the rest of her race...that's why I can be her friend."

My best friend since '89 is white. Her son is my Godson and my daughter is her Goddaughter. Her mom (RIP) was like a second mother to me. I was the maid of honor in her wedding. We've been friends so long and been through so much stuff together that WE dont see each other's race anymore. When other people point it out, its a shock to us.. lol

I dont see what the problem is with having a best friend of a different race, a friend should be your friend b/c you like the person they ARE.

Holla. I also can't stand folks who have the attitude that "black people are rotten, but you're OK." I've gotten a lot of that in my lifetime.

Actually I think all the white people who say "I'm not racist, I have black friends" are about as bad.
