Moving!
Since a few people have asked about it, I figured I'd post an update. Over the past year, I think I've started at least 3 threads asking about different locations around the country because my boyfriend and I were deciding where to move.
We decided! Next week, we'll be loading our worldly possessions onto a truck and moving to a tiny little town in the mountains, just outside of Boulder, Colorado. We found a cute little place to rent, but have no idea what we'll do for jobs -- we're going to a place we'll love, and then we'll find jobs, which I hope isn't as difficult as I think it might be.
Hopefully sometime soon we can do a Colorado GC gathering, since we know only two people in the whole state. This should be an adventure!

From what folks tell me, Boulder has a thriving ski population. So you are going to where folks will be hiring left and right...
From what I understand, it is very difficult to get the ski lift jobs that pay quite well because of the "competition" involved. Most of the lower wage paying jobs with no benefits are in the food service industry. But that will be well until the following summer. This ski season is looking very good!!!
I am not sure of the expense. I know SoCal is ultra expensive now. So everything is inflated till Cali gets a new governor... But, the surrounding states are that bad in pricing--relative to California. So you might get a decent deal while living there...
I say do a Monster.com search and see what you get and submit information that is applicable to you...
Good luck and best wishes on your endeavors...

Small world. I have been applying to Colorado State for next fall. Yesterday, my big bro informed me that he is moving to Fort Collins this week. And now this???
I don't know if I'll actually end up in CO, but it's a beautiful place. Best of luck to you and your boyfriend.

Sounds like somewhere like Nederland. Gorgeous area. Some folks who live up there do commute to Denver to work -- but the drive isn't much fun.
Maybe you could find something in one of the towns where there is limited stakes gambling (Blackhawk or Central City). Don't know how much it pays, but a couple people I know who do it seem to like it.
It's a beautiful drive across the Peak-to-Peak highway (which goes through Nederland), but might be kinda tough in the winter.
You'll probably recognize:
"He (she) was born in the summer of his twenty-seventh year,
Comin' home to a place he'd never been before,
He left everything behind him,
You might say he was born again,
You might say he found the key to every door,
(fast forward)
And the Colorado Rocky Mountain High,
I've seen it rainin' fire in the sky,
Talk to God and listen to the casual reply,
Rocky Mountain High,
In Colorado..
--John Denver
It's hard not to love it here.

Yea love Colo. + feature, a few GCers there so wont be totally lost!
Jon, vat ya mean looking at Co. Well, closer to Kansas Bro than Cal!
Yep, Ski area jobs are tuff. Hell one of the trips I ran for Ski Club couldnt get KFC in Vail for trip back to KC! Hell couldnt hire people as rent was to high for people to live there!
Maybe the Coor's Brewery?
Give tours at the Lost Mine in BlackHawk I think! It sucked!
Dumb as Tourists like me! Estes anit much better!
