- Write a form letter and solicit local businesses for prize donations either as tangible items or gift certificates.
- ask the Chapter if they have any connections to make monetary dontations for the Foundation. Many large corportations will contribute money. Also, the Mimi Fishman Foundation (
www.mimifishman.org) supports The Delta Gamma Center in MO and may be willing to make a monetary dontation to your chapter.
- You can get a good deal on shirts if you keep them simple. Make sure that your name is featured somewhere to spread PR, but don't make it the main focus of the shirt, so that other Greeks will want to wear them. Include the price in the registration fee rather than hoping participants will buy their own. Selling extras on the side is a risky endeavor, it could pay off big, or you could end up with a lot of shirts sitting around. Perhaps you should hold off on selling them on the side until your event becomes a larger, more well known event on campus.
- As far as publicity, advertise your event well in advance, and for extra PR open the event up to everyone on campus, not just the Greek community. Encourage other extracurriculars as well as regular students to form teams.
Hope some of this helps!
