For some reason, all I can see is a big "Y" in place of the heart... I wondered why everyone Y'd their GLO...

You probably don't have that particular font installed in that computer. (For BSP_nicole - BTW it's 'hexadecimal' and not 'hexagon' codes. )
You should have the font called Webdings or Wingdings already installed in your 'puter if it is running Windoze. The Greek characters use the Symbol font.
So, to see the heart symbol and Greek letters do the following:
(example with code shown - remove spaces around brackets for code to be active)
[ color=red ][ size= 6 ][ font=symbol ]I [ /font ][ font=webdings ]Y[ /font ] [ font=symbol ]ASF[ /font ] [ /size ][ /color ]
Here it is in its full glory:
