A question for EVERYONE....

Hmmmmm, as a Puerto Rican/African American, I would want to be white. Just for a day. I can't even begin to tell you all the things I would do. I would definitely go shopping. I know that would be like a whole other experience. It's gotta be...

But I will begin where you left off (I am only speaking from personal experience)....I wouldn't have to worry about racial profiling...I wouldn't be followed around a store and constantly asked..."UMM, What are you looking for, may I help you"...(basically, I wouldn't be suspect) I would walk into a car dealer and wouldn't automatically be shown the "lesser priced" model....I wouldn't have to worry about picking out my dream home because the realator would show me only the finest available..let alone, I wouldn't have to go through endless reference checks, among other things...and the "benefits" go on and on...but with change comes challenge. Would I know the everyday struggle that entails being a Black Woman in America if I were any other race????? So, on that note, it would only be for a day because I love being who I am......

Hate to break it to you all, but, biologically and genetically speaking...

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS RACE!!!

Of course, there are ETHNIC GROUPS such as Puerto Ricans, Chinese, Filipinoes, Italians, Jews, Carribeans, Irish, Germans, Welsh, Ghanians and Nigerians.

But we Homo sapiens sapiens to the deoxyribonucleic acid of it, we are all alike... We are just "gradations" of each other.

We're all like roses. We all have thorns. But we come in beautiful colors. Some of us big, some of us small. Some us have scents. Some of us stink. If one puts us in a vase, they could get pricked. We drink all the water in this vase, then we wilt and die...

So really, we are living the kind of life we should lead. As a Princess of Afrikan Descent I really think that when some of my ancestors came in chains, some from Yorkshire or Dublin who fought in the Confederate Army and some lived on the tribal lands of the Florida swamps and Georgian red clay--I just was wondering... Can't we all just get along in the New Millennium??? Geesh!

Oh, if I could be another "race" for a day.... Hmmmmm, let's see....

FYI- A lot of Asians envy Blacks because they believe that we have strong families, a well defined culture, and a strong community.
