Post PUFFY IS ACQUITTED

It was just announced that all the charges against Puff Daddy were dropped...but his labelmate Shyne has issues-he was dropped on attempted murder charges, but picked up the charges on assault and battery.

Mtv.com has the full story

So now that he's officially a "free man", do you all think that J-Lo is waiting in the wings for him?

Why should she have to wait? Why wasn't she there for him throughout the ordeal? Career or no career?

Isn't "love" and all that yada yada supposed to be about sacrifice and being there for your significant other?

J-lo has enough money to support herself, you would think, even if her career would have suffered from being with him. Hell, he has enough money, too.

So, if she ditched him this time, she will probably ditch him again. Only a sista like me would be there to see him through...trying to be loyal, I guess. Regardless of what "he wanted".

Personally I am happy for Puffy and I sincerely hope that Shyne is acquitted also. As for J-LO, she should have been there for Puffy when he needed her most. If she wasn't, then he doesn't need her at all.

The news was on all last night and first thing this morning...I am really happy that this whole ordeal is over.

AKA2D'91: I am so with you on the J-Lo thing. I have managed to loose alot of respect for her. HOW DO YOU DITCH YOUR MAN DURING A CRITICAL TIME? Can we say, heartless and selfish maybe. To add to my loss of respect, I heard on a radio station the other morning that she was in a department store or something shopping for a new couch/sofa WITH HER NEW MAN, she asked the sales rep about a paticular sofa who described it and also added that is was PUFFY. She was so upset, she left the store and said she would never shop there again.

Okay, so 1 month after Puffy sent LUTHER VANDROSS to serenade her in the studio with a live band, etc. etc, she's now GALAVANTING around town with her new man....I don't get it! That was a quick recovery.

Okay, there are several ways to look at things. To it looks like she ditched him during his time of needs, but they may have been on a verge of a break up before the trial got underway. We must also put ourselves in her shoes. Maybe she did dump him in order to save her reputation and career. Who knows what anyone would do in a situation like this. Just maybe their relationship was a publicity stunt from the start. I know I wouldn't my girls side if things got hot. But hey that's just me. The only thing I can't figure out is why she dissed Puffy for a backup dancer. I guess that just goes to show that "Love Don't Cost a Thing".

Question

Now, did he leave his girlfriend before or after he started kickin' it with J-Lo???

Sorry, he doesn't get too much sympathy here.

Hooray for Puffy! He got the best legal defense, and got off scott-free! Money cancan certainly make a difference between guilty and not guilty, between getting good medical treatment, and not...but I digress.

Puffy has had his share of good women. What I don't like is the way he dissed his previous girlfriend (who was with him when he didn't have a red penny) by having them walk behind him..and with Jennifer L...he holds her hand in hand...seems as if he doesn't know how to keep a good thing when he has it.

Perhaps he'll use this time to reflect. And if he goes back to J-Lo...that reflects poorly on his ability to discern who his real friends are/aren't.

Just my two pennies.

One would think that we were in Puff's and J-Lo's bedroom and knew everything that went down. And you wonder how rumors get started?

I can't put a judgment (?sp) on either one--cuz I don't have first hand knowledge. Guess I'm on the outside and NOT tryin to look in.

For y'all that are happy for Puffy and hope that Shyne gets off too, can I ask why?

I don't know about others, but I am always happy when these trials turn out well because bottom line these are successful black men that are on trial, as much by the media as by the judicial system.
There is something redeeming about the fact that, though the cards seemed stacked against him and the media would convict him before the trial has even begun, a black man can triumph. I always feel that the media treats each of these case going back to O.J., yeah I went there, as a case study for Black America, to prove their hypothesis that black Americans are rotten to the bone, regardless of how much money or status they have. (Again, just my humble opinion.)
As far as whether he is guilty or not, I don't know. I always taking these things with a grain of salt. There are always so many conflicting reports that I have difficult distinguish reality from fiction, so I generally refrain from passing judgement.

Question

Little32: That outlook is all fine and good, if there hadn't been any innocent people SHOT while trying to have a good time! I guess the victims should be taken "with a grain of salt" too??? As long as a well-known black person is accused, I guess the crime wasn't actually committed????

*Scratching my head, trying to figure this one out*

Discogoddess,
You made the point I was trying to make! The fact of the matter is that several people got SHOT and could have lost their lives. I don't know if Puffy or Shine or who did the shooting, but the whole thing did not sit well with me and I am not going to celebrate him being found not guilty (notice I did not say innocent)

The "another black man being persecuted by the man" story are, frankly getting old to me. My 60 years old plus aunt got stabbed multiple times and left for dead by the black 'man' (I use that term loosely)who was trying to rob her. This "man" had previously done some yard work for her and thought she was a good mark. The first trial ended in a hung jury because a woman on the jury said (to my father of all people!) that she "could not stand to see another black man go to jail!!" Uh huh, but she could stand to see an elderly black woman get murdered in her own home!!

Sympathy is great, when it is properly placed.

Eclipse,
You have my sympathies and prayers.
And in that circumstance, if that was her reason, the woman was wrong.
We must remember that the burden of proof is on the prosecution. They must prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt. From the information that I heard about the case from various sources, I don't think that in this case the prosecution would have been able to do that (again, I was not there).
Another thing, just because you are accused of the crime, doesn't mean that you are guilty. You are innocent until proven guilty no matter who you are. How come the people who doubt this victory are questioning it so much. What if--wonder of wonders--Puffy was actually innocent the entire time. Have we stopped to consider that?
