Wink Must be a Southern Thing

From my niece's high school webpage..

Attention Peaches and those who are interested in participating in Peaches for 2003-2004: The first meeting will be held this Wednesday, August 13 at 2:35 p.m. in Mrs. Valcin's room-604. There was an organization at my HS called Juniorettes that sounds kind of like that. . . except there were 10 senior guys voted into it by the female members called the Juniorette Gems.

Sounds like my high school sorority, Kappa Epsilon Tau, which was originally the Keyettes.

Sounds like Keywanettes at my high school. LA had single-sex versions of Key Club for some reason. They made us go co-ed, though

Ours was really hard to get into, though. You had to go to a "party" and answer a random question that you picked out of a basket in front of everyone. Then the members voted on you.

It was a lot of fun. We did service projects and lots of girly stuff, too. Sleepovers, baking cookies, it was a great time!

We had junior versions of Rotary, Kiwanis, and Optimists--divided into male and female clubs. Sophomore girls were eligible to join, and there was a large tea which was really similar to Rush. Of course, there were two elite ones, and two not so cool ones. It was harder than any sorority Rush I've experienced.
