Red face Black Political Prisoners

Good Morning Sorors, Greeks and Sistahfriends!!!
I am writing this post to make you aware of something many people don't know about. Political Prisoners in the United States. These are a group of men and women who were targeted by the govt. for their actions of self-determination in their communities. There was a special FBI unit called COINTELPRO that was made to target these groups and activists particularly. The COINTELPRO has been found to have planted evidence, set up assassinations and thwart any efforts by these groups. While the COINTELPRO has since been dissolved, it's affects has not.
These men and women have been sitting in jail for an excess of 20 years. It is up to us to take action. I have been working with groups and lawyers, drafting letters to the governor, talking to people so we can get these brothers and sisters free.
I know the info in my post probably needs to be clarified. Ask any questions... offer any suggestions... I'm open.

I'm a social work major and advocacy is one of the roles that we play. How can I become involved in your effort to free those brothers and sisters held captive for so long?

Thumbs up

The first step is understanding the issue. We need credibility that we have knowledge on what's happening. I'd say the biggest downfall with the Mumia protests is that the media would ask the protesters why they were there and why they are protesting and they would have no answer. The second step is getting to know the PP's you're fighting for. Get to know their cases, what they were/are about. The third step is getting the word out. Writing to the local/federal government. Question why these people are still in jail. Get the backing of congressman... the NAACP... form coalitions.
Email me and I can get you the addresses of some of the PP's.

Stay up.

I did a research paper on the philadelphia MOVE incident. I am from philadelphia so it was always something i had heard about, but i never really understood it. I learned so much about the political injustices going on in our society. i especially took a soft spot of Mumia Abu-Jamal, because he is a radio lournalist and that is my college discipline. I have read "All Things Censored" and "Live From Death Row" and i am currently on "ON A Move: The Story Of Mumia Abu-Jamal" If you have not read these books as well as the rest i recommend them. Mumia is an excellent writer, he has the remarkable ability to paint this vivid, and sad picture of life on death row for minorities. I want to get involved more than just reading books. If anyone knows of a way let me know.

The protesters didn't have any answers because they are idiots.
If the protersers actually got to know Mumia they would know he was guilty. What kind of an idiot goes to a rally for a murderer?

The Mumia case is like the OJ case except with about 100 times more evidence. Mumia was arrested at the scene. He was shot by the cop. The cop was killed. Mumia's brother said Mumia was the shooter. There care was still at the scene. FRY Mumia!
