I decided to do new thread than dredge up an old thread...

Okay, it was OUR decision to elope...

No problemo...

We had a small close friends and familial ceremony in Sedona, Arizona... Quick and easy with very little issues...

SOOOOOOO......

HC my folks goto the Alpha convention in Detroit???
HC summa the boys that I dated are shocked and hurt about my marriage??? Summa dem' rather well known...
HC my momma has to tell me this in full detail??? Like what was wrong with that boy???
HC I feel like I should notify every man I dated about me getting married and how THANKFUL I AM to get OFF the dayum singles radar??? No offense to the ladies who aren't married... It's just I wanted to be married at this time in my life...

HC I especially wanna tell this, this, uhhh, foo that he missed his opportunity!!! And I got me SUMBODY who loves me for me...

Or, reactions from the Ex(s) once they found out you "tied the knot"?

HC people show up to wedding with no gift but eat and drink the food?
HC I wanna know why a damn wedding dress cost so much?
HC I only had a formal wedding because it was my mother's dream?
HC I let her pick out 95% of everything.

HC it was so pretty?
HC the wedding goomsmen got engraved flasks as gifts?
HC they filled them with Hennessy at the reception?

HC I can't lie, that set the reception off!
HC my husband got sick in the hotel after the reception?

But,

HC people still call me by my maiden name.

HC EX's still ask me to go out "AS FRIENDS"

HC I spent my 1st aniversary in the hospital giving birth.

HC I thought it would be cute to have Warren II the day before our anniversary, but now I am mad because I have to cut my anniversary weekend trip early because we have to give the kid a birthday party!

HC when I was in Vegas I was carded in every casino because they said I looked like I was 17! I told one lady, look I am 25 married with 2 kids! And she stood there in awe....

HC some people always think I am much younger and think my hubby is a child molester! LOL...

HC marriage is HARD WORK! Momma didnt stay it would be like this! But anything worth having is worth the hard times!

HC my husband barely works, and then come home and talk about the long day he had watching TV and lounging.....WTF!

HC my hubby refuses to wash, so I refuse to put his clothes away.

HC he will let his clothes sit in a basket and just take them out of it when he wears them.

HC no one thinks my hubby can do any wrong, especially my mom. She treats him better than me.

HC I fainted and still don't remember getting married. Good thing I have it on video!

Oh I could go on, and on, and ON about the marriage thing. But I love it and wouldn't trade it for anything!

HC most of my closest friends are married, just got married or are engaged to be married?
HC some of them have been married twice and I'm still waiting on the first one?
HC I refuse to be in anyone elses wedding until it's my own?
HC I feel like I'm being selfish for feeling that way?

Don't feel bad 'cuz I just got married at 34 years old... I am glad I waited... But that's for another thread...

My church family still calls me sister *maiden name* and they'll do it in front of the hubby

My Daddy still addressed birthday cards etc. to me with my maiden name. The first time he used my married name...he spelled it wrong. Daddy LOVES hubby but I'm BIG OLE daddy's girl and he was still in denial

Hubby can do no wrong and now...neither can my son. My Mom defends them more than me.

Marriage is hard work. Throw a baby in there and it doesn't get easier. Any newlyweds out there with bambinos? Lord...that's a whole other thread.

My nervousness waned after the paper was signed by the Judge saying that my husband and I are legally married...

Both my husband and I told everyone right after we got married. My mother said she "knew I was up to something funny"... My father was sad that he didn't walk me down an aisle... But they got what they wanted at my formal wedding ceremony.

And your husband is right, you will have to learn how to be married together. Never forget how you feel when things are said and/or done. If you always say, when you do/say this to me--I FEEL LIKE... Then communication is always in the picture...

And remember, YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND ARE DOING WHAT YOU ALL WANT TO DO!!! And ultimately, it is upto you and your husband--NO BODY ELSE--a Man must leave is family and cleave unto his wife so that they can become ONE flesh...
