				Chapter Critic?

I've been researching some of the New York regionals, and I keep seeing a chapter officer position called "Critic" Do any of your organizations have a postion like this? The postion is described by Sigma Gamma Phi as:
"A critic was always appointed to notice the inaccuracies in grammar and pronunciation, or any mannerisms, and at the close of the evening, she gave her report."

We had a parlimentarian, who was supposed to keep everyone under control and acting within decorum, though it was sometimes difficult to do (we had a few...uh.. angsty chapter meetings). That's the closest we have, though.

We have a chapter critic, and it seems to function pretty much the same way that you described. It's sort of like a Parliamentarian that comments about procedure at the end of the meeting.
I think it is very useful and keeps everyone on their toes.

As anal-retentive as I am, that's the perfect job for me!
But, no...we didn't have anything like that.

We also have a Parliamentarian to help us follow Robert's Rules of Order. Thank goodness we do, because our meetings use to last for hours on end!

I can see how it would be similar to a parlimentarian or sargent at arms position. From the description, however, it just seemed to be less chapter procedure oriented, and a little more personally oriented, which struck me as odd.

We have a parlimentarian. Basically, his job is to study the hell out of Robert's Rules and rule on Parliamentary Procedure issues in chapter meetings. We have a lot of student government people in our chapter so this is something that happens almost every week.

We supposedly have a parliamentarian, but still it seems that nobody knows anything about procedure Our meetings can get kinda outta control...not Jerry Springer outta control, but close

If your Parlimentarian is not doing their job, report this to your group within the chapter who deals with conflict (if you have one) to talk to her about her job and the real need for her to improve.
This happened to us one year and the Parlimentarian meant well, she just didn't want to offend anyone by telling them to "shhh" or whatever, so we had to re-elect for that position.
