WGLO's vs BGLO's-----> What's the difference?
First, Hello to all my greek family. I'm new to this thread so bare with me.
What I would like to know is, besides race and etc..What is the difference between a WGLO and a BGLO. I mean are there rituals sort of the same? Do WGLO have step shows? As you can see by name that I am from one of the finest sororities of the Alphaland which is AKA! And coming from a HBCU I am not too familiar with WGLO's. So could someone please enlighted me, please! I understand that this may be funny to some but honestly, I have no clue. So again please so me some greek luv and educate me.

Ivypearl,
I'm not sure how much of this board you've read, and I'm not trying to be funny, but we've discussed this very topic several times in several different threads. Before "race wars part 4,000" breaks out, please take the time to review the topics on this board. I'm SURE you'll find the answers you seek.

Also check out the Rush forum and some of it's threads.

first of all there is no such thing as a WGLO! ALthough there are BGLO's that does not necessarily mean that the other has to be racially specific. There are only GLO's which do not exclude anyone for their race. thank you!!!!

"GLO"s are for men and women of all races. There is no such thing as a "WGLO." Besides, even though the 'B' in BGLO stands for 'Black,' I think I've read on these boards that there are members of other races as well in these orgs.

Angree- BGLO's don't exclude anyone on the basis of race either. Sheesh!!!
Relax for goodness sakes.
BGLO's are Traditionally and Predominately Black.
WGLO's are Traditionally and Predominately White.
In the long run, who really cares? Both terms are unofficial.

Thanks 12dn94dst and ZetaAce. That is what I call being helpful. I will look at the past posts. Thank you!
Angree-I didn't post this to have anyone defensive. It was simply a question not a race issue. I obviously didn't know.
I appreciate you two on helping me. Again, Thanks!

IvyPearl98,
You might try looking at the NPC and NIC websites for more information about GLOs, both fraternities and sororities. The one for the NPC is www.npcwomen.org. As far as I know, GLOs don't traditionally participate in step shows, though another poster mentioned that GLO members got involved in the annaual step show at their school. There are a lot of local and regional GLOs out there as well, you might try www.localsororities.com for a listing of local sororities.
Hope you find what you seek!

Ivypearl,
At my campus, the chapter of Chi Omega Sorority did step two years in the homecoming stepshow. All of the NPHC fraternities helped them get their show together and the crowd received them well.
Also, I was told that when the chapter of Kappa Alpha Order Fraternity holds their annual "Airband" show, it's their form of a stepshow except they perform skits. I never attended one, but it was one of the highlights of the year.

1. One difference which comes to my mind is the recruiting method. If you participate in Formal NPC Rush, you have to check them all out, whereas I understand in NPHC sororities, you can check our "informationals" for general information and that in the NPHC perspective, "rush" means that you are serious about your intentions to pursue ONE only.
2. From what I understand, both NPC and NPHC groups have rituals that are beautiful and meaningful.
3. Historically WGLOs do not have step shows.

As far as anyone around here knows, the term WGLO was made up on this message board. I don't know who felt the need to say it, perhaps its so people can justify the term BGLO. Everything is a GLO folks, how many times do you hear people refer to us as the majority fraternity or sorority, as opposed to the minority fraternities and sororities. Come on, that's just ridiculous, you would be laughed at if you called it a WGLO....

There are so many GLO's, how are we supposed to differentiate between them. I don't think it is safe to say NPC, NPHC, IFC because, from what I understand, not every fraternity or sorority belongs to these groups. I believe that there is a difference and perhaps it should be recognized. Maybe now is a good time to close this thread.

Okay!!!
I really don't see the big deal in saying BGLO or WGLO!! It doesn't matter!! We can't help it if they are predominantly white or Black. If they weren't, we wouldn't say that!!
