UF fraternity rush
Hey guys i noticed theres alot of threads about UF sorority rush on this forum but cant find out much about the fraternities at the university of florida. I'll be starting there in the fall and i am definately going to rush, but i have no clue about which fraternities to rush (theres just soooo many). Any advice or info on how (or who) i should narrow down my chioces would be awesome, cause i'm very open minded....thanks alot for any help!

Okay here are all the IFC fraternities at U of Fla.
Alpha Epsilon Pi
Kappa Sigma
Pi Kappa Phi
Alpha Gamma Rho
Lambda Chi Alpha
Pi Lambda Phi
Alpha Tau Omega
Phi Gamma Delta
Sigma Alpha Epsilon
Beta Theta Pi
Phi Delta Theta
Sigma Chi
Delta Tau Delta
Phi Kappa Tau
Sigma Phi Epsilon
Delta Upsilon
Phi Sigma Kappa
Tau Epsilon Phi
Kappa Alpha
Pi Kappa Alpha
Theta Chi
Zeta Beta Tau
My advice (keep in mind that I'm from the Midwest, SEC rush is a strange thing to me) would be to stay open minded through the whole thing. It's f-ing awesome that you are going through with an open mind.
Any of these groups could be a great fit for you, so you need to find that fit. Do some research, find out GPA's, activities, philanthropy events, and intramural involvement, as well as anything else you might deem important (social calendar, house situation/location, whatever...) When you've got that information for as many of the houses as possible, look for the houses that meet your criteria in those areas. By using the objective data that can't be faked you should be able to narrow down your choices to ones that seem to share your priorities.
You may not care that much about a house with great grades but doesn't play many intramurals, or you could be more in tune with a chapter that does a lot of community service but isn't big on campus involvement. Remember when narrowing down your choices it should be about what YOU (and only you) are looking to get out of a fraternity experience. Once you think you have it narrowed down to a group of houses, then it is time to see how you mesh with the brothers of that house, which should be teh deciding factor in your decision.
If you find several houses that seem to have priorities similar to yours than I'm absolutely certain you will find a place to call home, and organization that you will care about for the rest of your life.

Kappa Alpha
When referring to Kappa Alpha, please use the correct nomenclature, Kappa Alpha Order. Thank you, now back to your regular thread.

I am adding the nicknames, because rush is not structured like it is for girls, and you will likely hear the nicknames a lot more. Some are self-explanatory, but others...

I agree with Beta,
Keep an open mind, but make sure you do your research. Visit WebPages of the local chapter and of the national office. Go to any of the pre-rush events, with that may fraternities I’m sure the school has a meet the Greeks event where you can ask questions.
Rush week goes by extremely fast and it’s impossible to visit everyone. I will say that getting to know the brothers is very important. Seem interested and interesting, that’s what I always tell my brothers. Listen to what they are talking about and ask questions. It’s the easiest way to get to know what you want.
Finally look around during rush can you see yourself not only hanging out these guys but respecting them as well? If you do not get along with the guys you won’t benefit from any of their positive influences. Good luck let us know what happens.

Enjoy Rush week and try to find where you feel you fit in...UF's rush is not structured so the best thing to do is over the summer try to find out what houses appeal to you. You can find out alot just by hanging out with the brothers of the house. Good luck and if anyone has any UF Fraternity Rush Questions feel free to PM me or IM me at airpear53...
