NEWS - Brandy And Her Husband On The Outs?

(6/27/03, 5 p.m. ET) -- R&B singer Brandy and her husband/music producer Robert Smith are splitting up, according to New York's Daily News. A friend of the couple told peopleonline.com that the pair will remain friends and will raise their one-year old daughter, Sy'rai, jointly.

Brandy, eight months pregnant, is expecting her second child. The singer is also working on a new album.

Brandy and Smith were secretly married in 2001 and did not make their marriage public till February 2002. Brandy was introduced to Smith by producer Rodney Jerkins, who is Smith's cousin. Jerkins was working on Brandy's last release 2002's Full Moon.

Calls to Brandy's label Atlantic Records were not returned at press time.

So, Im guessing that this one is Robert's?

I wonder if there will be another Baby Special on MTV.

Im happy for her and Robert staying friends and still raising the baby, but all this drama isnt necessary. I guess its whatever floats your boat.

I thought we did the numbers on Sy'rai and found she was born in the marriage? THey are married in summer 2001, she is born in fall 2002- way more than nine months.

I am all up for celebrity gossip,but some things are a bit malicious. I wish her the best, regardless.

What's even more puzzling is the split with a baby very much on the way.

Of course, I don't know the ins and outs of their marriage, but from what we saw last summer on the baby special -- something was very much off with Brandy and hubby.

Don't you all find it very much curious that we are JUST NOW finding out about Brandy's pregnancy? I mean it would be one thing if she was 4 or 5 months, but she is due in a matter of weeks.

Why do they say that they will raise their FIRST child jointly? Why not both? Maybe the second child isn't his? This is all strange....

I do feel too, that somethin ain't right. I'm so confused in this soap opera that is Brandy. But I think that maybe the first child is his. The second isn't. Why? Because married people wouldn't keep the fact that they are expecting their second child a secret. I mean like CT4 said, she's like about to pop any minute now, and no one new she was even pregnant. I just hope that whatever the case is, that they will work out all this drama so that they can both be the parents possible for their kid(s).

I am so saddened by this y'all! There are just TOO many marriages breaking up! Yeah, I noticed how they were interacting with each other on the show last year, but I thought he was being a little reserved. You know...I try not to read into things so deeply. But dang...Brandy! Why get pregnant again and you know the marriage is on the rocks?!

This is trippin' me out! I'm so sad by this. I went to her website and in the bio, she was talking about how she needed a new sound so she asked Darkchild to help her out. I was wondering then why she hadn't mentioned anything about Robert. Oh well...I'm going to pray that they work out their marriage.
