I am a conservative and I find that difficult as a college student since college campuses are known mostly to be left. This is solely my opinion but I really respect liberals but I absolutely HATE people that look liberal just for attention. In high school one of my best buds was a well informed and learned democrat. This past year I lived with a room mate from hell who claimed to be left and showed it through his "lifestyle". He exemplified those of the left that fake it for the attention. "Look at me I'm protesting the evil empire!" I also don't like those that sit down during the National Anthem. The way I look at it you stand up no matter what. You stand up to both honor your country AND to bear the shame of your country. It's like a Lakers fan wearing a jersey even though they lost in the playoffs.
Again I want to make it clear that I respect liberals but not those that do it JUST for attention.

I am conservative, go to a VERY liberal university, have been somewhat visible in pro-life campaigns (nice ones - we didn't harrass abortion clinics and tell women they were going to hell or anything like that. Those people are an embarrassment),very openly declare my love for the dubya (my first son's middle name will be after the pres), and will be volunteering for his campaign.
My pet peeve: mistreatment of the flag in any way. I cannot stand to see it being displayed improperly; if you own a flag and plan on displaying it, I believe that you should know the proper etiquette. For instance, one of our fraternities flies it own flag higher than the flag, which is attached to the wall. Big no-no.
Ok, getting off the soapbox.
I respect anyone with well thought out and INFORMED opinions. Don't tell me you're a democrat because your daddy told you to vote like he did and expect my admiration. I'll blow you off and not even waste my time telling you I don't agree with you.

WOOHOOO!!! I am LOVING some MTSUGURL! I couldn't have said it better myself -- thank you for a THOUGHTFUL reply!!
One thing I am going to add is this tax cut that was finally approved -- WHY IN THE HELL did the democraps get it in there that people who DO NOT pay taxes should still get a refund?? I mean, if I walk up to the returns line at Wal-Mart and there are 10 people ahead of me with shirts that they bought and are now returning, should I really expect to walk up there with NO shirt to return and say "I would still like some money back" --
I love Dole too I think that she represents herself, her party, women, and politicians in a respectful way and I will be proud to support her if and when she runs for President.
As for W - he is an amazing man that has been criticized for things that *shouldn't* matter (like the references to Curious George) -- when instead, he should be recognized for making MY world a better, safer place to live. I will certainly be on his campaign!

I'm looking forward to great conversations here. When I have more time, I'd like to agree about some points Crystal said about MTSU. I just recently joined the Rutherford County Republican Party and the Rutherford County Republican Women. I'm excited about getting involved!!

Short on time too. The one demo mantra that goes right up my spine is "The tax cuts are only for the rich." They (esp Daschel sp?) repeat this so much- like they believe if they say it often enough it will be true!
I think I could fill an entire thread on Hillary. Somebody posted a link way back where you could punch her face. So childish and ashamed to admt it...I LOVED THAT SITE!!!

John McCain is one of the few only good republicans. I think the White House would be better off with him than Bush.
For you John Edward fans.. http://www.johnedwards2004.com/
Check out that nice flag picture in the backround of the menu.
here is the Bill Clinton Pic I promised the republican invaders to the democrat thread.
*Yep like you said you had the right to invade the democrat thread to insult people I have the right to do the same in your thread* I know politcal issues get heated but can we keep them at least respectful from now on?

Do a search on "celebrity slugfest" -- I knew there was a website long ago, but the slugfest files might be floating around the net.

Uh, I guess, then, that I'm rich! (Thank's Mr. Daschle!) - I don't think so personally, but according to the democrats, I'm wealthy, since I'm getting a tax cut (ugh).
By the way - Ann Coulter's new book "Treason" is coming out, and it is ALREADY higher on the Amazon best seller's list than the Former First Lady's book! Woo-Hoo - Coulter can write!
Go Republicans!

 That's crazy!
On another note...
What would I be classified as? On most all issues I tend to go conservative.. but on some I tend to lean more to the left.

Well in most cases republicans will say anything a democrat says is uninformed. But we say the same about republicans so fair is fair.

Only you would care dionysus.
Seriously I was everyone could just kid around about the politcal thing like me and Mon (alphagamdiva) do. I mean seriously it not like we are going to sway anyone either way, at our ages most people have formed their own beleifs on the issues by now.
