Fraternity Rush Stories Only!

Since so many people commented on how nice it was to see a fraternity rush thread, I decided to start an overall one.

Fraternity Rush at SIUE is scheduled for the third week of the semester. Chapters are allowed to have informal rush events prior to this, but most efforts are really geared to getting students to realize that fraternities exist on this campus and to come out and check-out Greek Life. Since there are no houses, Greek visibility is limited to seeing the members around and hosting events that will attract people. During the first two weeks, our Sigma Pi chapter is hosting a Pig Roast & bands on campus, our Alpha Kappa Lambda chapter is holding its 3rd Annual Back to School Concert, and our Phi Kappa Psi Chapter is having a sand volleyball tournament and bbq at the freshman dorm. To the best of my knowledge, Sigma Phi Epsilon hasn't planned anything major during this time. The neat thing is these events will be well attended/supported by all of the chapters, not just the sponsoring ones, since we are really trying to get the message across to our freshmen that the best way to have fun at SIUE is to go greek.
As many of you know, I am actually the Greek Advisor at SIUE, but during the summer I work with our Freshman Orientation program. The IFC/Panhellenic have been sponsoring Ice Cream Socials for our Overnight Orientation participants and their parents, and it really seems to be paying off. The parents are learning about Greek Life, and many of them have given positive feedback about how nice and enthusiastic are Greeks are!
I also just received 7,000 of our new Greek Life brochures today, and we will be mailing about 2,000 of them out soon to our incoming freshmen with info about rush! Hopefully we will have a lot of interest this year!

Now, let's have some other fraternity rush stories...

Well we are currently a local hope to join a national GLO next semester. Our rush calendar is all planned out. We are revising a letter we are going to send to all the freshmen males about our fraternity. My school isnt a very big greek school, so there arent a lot of rules and regulations. Our rush starts the second day of school and lasts for 2 weeks. We hope to get atleast 10 new guys. Wish us luck.
