Workout Music
Ok, so i need a good CD to work out to.
I'm a runner, I hate all machines.
However, I am being sentenced to one, or no exercise at all per dr's orders.
So, in order to keep my mind from thinking how much I hate this damn machine where i am riding a bike or climbing stairs that go NOWHERE I need a good CD.
Any suggestions??

I like working out to techno music and other dance music. It really energizes me and makes me push myself. I download the songs I want from the internet and make myself a mix CD. That way I don't have to skip through songs that aren't upbeat. If you have some money to spend, I suggest purchasing an MP3 player where you can upload the songs into the player and go from there. MP3 players are small and can be kept in your pocket (or you can strap them to your arm or something like that). The good thing about MP3 players is that you can change your song list daily to suit your workout for the day.
I hope this helps you. Good luck with everything!

I like hip hop and dance music for working out because it's upbeat. If you don't have a cd burner, pick up a club/dance mix cd.

Completely agree with the dance/techno music. When I started to work out, I downloaded as many dance mixes as I could find and burned them to a CD.
What really works for me now are songs with a lot of emotion behind them- usually meaning, mad/upset lyrics. I've turned to alot of rock/alternative stuff- Last Resort by Papa Roach always does the trick.
Anything with a good beat will keep you going.

I suggest downloading (or buying if you can swing the pricetag) anything from the Dancemania series. They're only released in Japan. It's mostly european dance music though. Great workout music.

Okay, well, I love Britney Spears! So I of course listen to the Brit when I work out. It inspires me to not quit...b/c hello look at those abs...so I keep myself motivated that way.
But if you don't like Britney, try J.LO, Christina..etc.....women with awesome performance power helps motivate! It also takes your mind off of that crappy machine! Good luck girl!!

Ditto on the techno music. Listening to techno can keep me going for a couple of hours. It gets me pumped up and good to go.

while i hate her, i do tend to listen to some skankney spears....those abs are a TRUE inspiration. UKDaisy is right on with that , but i think she sucks and don't support her music at all.
i'll listen to a lot of up-beat rap, too, like some missy elliot or ja rule/ashanti combos....just something fun to make what i'm doing less of a bore. anything i can sing to, i am all about...makes my brain not realize what my body is doing so the time goes by faster.

I have to listen to music that evokes some kind of emotion in me. Whether it be anger, motivation, whatever. Some of my favorites to work out to are "The Distance" by Cake, "Fighter" by Christina Aguilera, "All Along the Watchtower" by Dave Matthews, "Two Step" by Dave Matthews, some stuff by Linkin Park, etc.

try some of those early 90s pop/rock groups like Deep Blue Something, The Spin Doctors, Blues Traveler, etc. The up-beat but still rocking songs work for me!

You know what's fun to workout to, too? 80's pop music! There's nothing like a little Walking on Sunshine, Electric Youth, or Step By Step (ooooooooooooooh baby!) to make you feel like a dork!

our gym was going through a recession getting people to come in
so, they targeted the college students and advertised that they would have different music playing(sorry but hard rock doesn't move me, it makes me want to leave)
they play different music depending on what youre doing
kickboxing is techno (most people end up dancing around)
cardio is pop music
and the biggest class is ab workout/weights and they play hip hop. . .nothing slow but fast
if you don't get to the gym by 630, forget it
you wont get a machine or spot
the cool thing is that most people end up singing along
it's almost like being in a musical

I'm with you AGDiva- mostly upbeat stuff.
I just go with anything that makes me want to dance- hip-hop, SOME dance music, a lot of dancehall reggae and yes, Britney Spears and J Lo because thinking of their abs is indeed an inspiration.
