Thumbs down

John1082, did not Frank, or Bob London personally!

I know London told our H Alpha that the reason LX Z was invited to G A in Pheonix was to have our Charter Yanked. He also told him that there should not be LXA Zetas at smaller schools!

I called the G H Alpha at the time and made a plea, and the H A made a case for the Zeta. It was voted to keep Charter and place on level 3 probation.

It seems that there were problems all over the LXA world with Brother London.

He is now Ex. Director of A P O!

Sorry, but from what I know, I have no respect for him on that count!! I would be interested to know how he is doing with APO as I am a member from the BU Chapter.

My .05 worth!

Bob London & passage of time

All my dealings with Bob were fairly positive, but those were in the early to mid-eighties. That being said, I have heard from others that your experience was not an isolated event.

It may be that there were some dynamics in Indianapolis among the staff that contributed to the change in Brother London that you and others have commented on. I don't run in those circles and have tried to avoid knowing about the inner workings of that circle. I am afraid that the dynamics of Fraternity operations in Indianapolis may be something akin to hot dogs or sausage: You may like the product, but don't ask how it is made!

I wish Bob well in his endeavors and sincerely hope that he and his family are healthy and happy.

Lest it be said that I wear blinders when it comes to the staff, I must admit that I have had some contact with the staff that has been less than satisfactory. My dealings with Eric Richards have been good and the folks that I had some disagreements with in the past have departed the scene. Even so, it will be some time before that comfort level returns.

I have to second the concerns on London's perspective - NEVER had a positive conversation with him. My perception was he was always looking for a reason to close a chapter, not how he (GH) could help turn a situation around. He seemed very hands off, unless a strong case could be made for closure, then you couldn't avoid him!

I doubt we'll see much change, especially considering economic conditions - with all the cutbacks, what little efficiency they did will suffer even more. Signs of the times, I guess, though things are slowly, yet surely, changing for the better. Recovery always takes longer than the down trends.

Lightbulb

Brother L Chipperfeild, G H Phi has said that the New G H Z had some plans in the works to try to keep the Alums more informed. This is rather than just ask for monies.

We can only hope that it will come to fruitation as I feel, that the Alums are the True Back Bone of LXA!

This Site actually is abour 50/50 Active and Alum.

We all now the International is strapped as we all are. Just think for a minute, We have probably more ELC's in the field than most, but still spread so damn thin.

We as Alums need to get not only Us but as many re-involved as possible to work with the Chapters whether it is our own or others.

If more Alums would keep an eye out for their/other Zetas, maybe we would not be having the problems we are having.

I'll believe that when I see it. I was invited to participate on the history committee (I'm a history junkie, so it should have been fun), however, there has never, ever been a meeting, even a phone meeting of this committee. I leave Voicemail and email with the brother apparently in charge of this committee - nothing.

Apparently, this committee made a presentation at GA last year, which I find interesting, since as far as I can tell, this committee does not exist!

I'm going to try something to get the UNC alums back involved. I have a five month lead notice on the next initiation Ritual. I will work all summer long informing alumni about this (most of them haven't seen Ritual in at least 12 years, so this would be a good re-introduction) - plus, we should also hopefully have a chartering banquet at about the same time - which should be promoted for ALL alumni in the area - we'll see what happens.
