Today on Oprah. . . the subject was about transgenders and going all the way.
Folks,
I really thought that Oprah was staying away from topics such as the transgenders, sex changers and cross dressers. Today she had several guest that were going through the process of changing their gender. These gentlemen were married with children and they basically decided to completely change from a he to a she. Moreover, what struck me as interesting was the fact that they didn't care that they were putting their needs before their spouses and children. I couldn't believe that they got married in the first place and decided to have kids. It really was a very bizarre episode and I just didn't have any empathy or sympathy for them, however, I felt for their families because of the different changes that they were putting these people through. For example, the one couple was married for 20 years and had two children and the wife was going to stay with him or rather her, however, she realized that she was going to lose out on the relationship either way. And it also put a financial burden on the family because his hair treatments or implants were very expensive and as well as the different hormone treatments. Then he was going to have the operation to give him a vagina. I'm sorry but homeboy or rather homegirl wouldn't take and put the family into debt for that operation. That's my 22cents!

I had to turn the channel after a while. It was too much. I know I could not have handled that. I mean, when they got married, he vowed to be MAN and wife, not WOMAN and wife. And he has 2 SONS, what will this do to them. Will they have problems? How do they explain that their dad is now their other mother?
Ok, here was the interesting thing to me. He, or she, the one from today, Tammy I think, said she's still heterosexual. This kind of puzzled me. Ok, so you feel like a woman, want to be a woman, but you still like women, which technically doesn't make you gay, because technically she's still a man. ???????????? How does this work? She's getting a vagina, and will till be sttracted to women. Will "she" say she's gay to people, or will she expalin that she used to be a man? Will he be considered a female on forms, or does he still have to check male??? How would that work with forms if he had to have his birth certificate and it says male???
This kind of thing is just too confusingto everyone involved. I think they're being selfish in the long run. But at the same time, they'd be living a lie. Better to stop it now, than never. Or is it?

Soror, after reading all of that, I have a headache! I didn't see the show. Were the children in all cases ADULTchildren or under 18?
And Oprah, I thought you were going to retire after the 9/11 buzz went away...

For Tammy, "her" sons were I think 20 and 15, but still, they have to deal with the fact, as young MEN, that their father is going to be a woman. That's just so sad for them. The other "lady's" kids were young boys, like elementary I think.
And Oprah said on the news the other day that she's going to keep doing it until it doesn't feel good anymore. At least another 5 years.

The thing that really got me folks was how Ms. Oprah was all in the mix just asking all kinds of questions that were a bit much. I wasn't able to finish watching the show because my Spin class started at 4:30 and I was kind of glad that I had to go.

Did anyone see the show to the end? or Did any African American Males get a sex change? Do you notice how it's mostly males in general that want or desire to change their gender? What's up with not be happy with the sex that God made you?

SeriousSigma,
You couldn't be more right...what's wrong with men wanting to be women? I bet if they had to have a baby vaginally, they might change their minds on that!!!
It's so funny that you all brought this topic up. I was at the mall this past Friday, and I saw this man wearing some open-toe sandals. At first, I didn't really think about it until I kept looking at him. Peep this...he had on some HIP HUGGERS! and a tight fitted shirt that gathers around the breast area (he had NO BREAST WHATSOEVER!)! Y'all know how men are made up, big up top, small at the bottom...let's just say this man looked at hot MESS! And to put the ICING ON THE CAKE....this man had to be in his upper 50s to low 60s!!!!!! He didn't have on any make up at all, and his hair was completely grey!
Now, you know it's a sad day when an OLD MAN wants to be a woman!!!! Lord, bless this country!

I'm not sure about that. I have seen many more female to male transgenders than the other way around.

Age really has nothing to do with it. And watch who you call OLD.

Ladygreek,
That's very interesting because I don't think that I've seen a lot of female transgenders. That's truly interesting!

There is a guy that I worked with last year, that was going through "the change". It seems the previoius year he decided that he needed to be himself, even though he was married with kids. It was weird because when I first met him/her, I could tell it was a man, but the nametag didn't match! After a while, it didn't bother me, except for the day when I saw him/her drinking out of a "I love my daddy" mug. WTF???
Now, he's/she's finally ready to have the surgery done. Its going to be done at my school, which is also the leader in sex-change operation surgery....Thank God I only have one year left in this crazy place!

Well, being in the town that i'm in, San Fran has more than it's share of TG's. I've seen more male to female than the oppisite. just a personal observation.

Hmmmm, maybe the female to male is more convincing so you don't realize that they are transgenders. Do you remember the murder case a few years ago that they made a TV movie out of?
