Note: This isn't a cool site, so I didn't put it there.

I just got an email from this site saying:
Word-of-Mouth.Info is required by law to inform you via email (if
possible) that a report has just been submitted about the person or persons associated with this email address (<insert mine here>). *Please find a link to the report below. The Word-of-Mouth.Info Report Awareness System will continue to inform you when and if reports regarding this email address are submitted in the future unless you add this email address to our Do Not Email List and, in doing so, agree to give up any right you may or may not have to be informed when reports are ubmitted in the future.

After going to the site and viewing the info on this "report" I got this:
REPORT TYPE: I AM LOOKING FOR INFORMATION
REPORT SUBJECT: my e-mail adress
REPORT AUTHOR: ANONYMOUS - CONTACT USING ABOVE LINK
HOW WELL DOES AUTHOR KNOW SUBJECT: WELL
AUTHOR'S RELATIONSHIP TO SUBJECT: SOCIAL
TIMEFRAME OF AUTHOR'S EXPERIENCE WITH SUBJECT: CURRENT
SUBMIT DATE: (TIME ZONE IS ARBITRARY) 4/30/2003 8:58:00 AM PST

Has anyone gotten this before? What the hell is it?!

what is this? Does this mean someone is looking for you? And if this person is looking for you and they already have your email address, wouldn't it just be easier for that person to email you. This would creep me out.

Yeah. My thoughts. There are like 8 reports for me.

Yet, this is my first email form them. You can email the person who filed the report, but you need to be a member. $19.95 per month.

I think it's some sort scam.

Sounds like it. I would ignore them, maybe you can block this company or whatever from sending you these emails.

I think it might be a scam because I have gotten emails from those dumb singles websites and they send out an email similar to that and its just a scam to get you to actually check out their address.

If not--I would change your address and edit your profile.

I went to the website to see what it was all about, and it sounds like a scam, but apparently people send reports to this site and let other people search for information about them. Like, if you started seeing a new person and you wanted to check them out you might go to this site and see if you can find any informaton about them. It seems that people only send bad reports. That's really scary, if people really use this site someone can randomly send false information about you..

I'm just wondering, did you recently apply for a job and someone is checking up on you? Or maybe someone you know is making up stories about you sending them to this website. I don't know, but it could get creepy.

Only my friends have my e-mail address. So I have no idea. You can do searches, so I'm thinking that's how they get e-mail addresses. They then send a bogus e-mail like I got to that e-mail aderess to try and get money from them. But who knows. I put myself on their "do not email" list. The strange thing is how they say that they are required by law to tell me about a report against me.

I'm glad to see someone else say something about this. I received an email, too. There are 2 inquiries and 4 responses about me. I looked up a bunch of email addresses of people I knew to see if anyone else I knew had entries on there and I only found one person. I responded to my own inquiry with a different email address and someone did write me back to get the info I had, but again, I had to pay $20 to find out who it was or write back. It's kind of worrisome....

It has to be a scam. I have 2 email addresses, one for people I know and one that I use only when I have to sign up to view a website or something. Nobody has that address but me, but I keep getting emails that say someone who knows me well has put in a report about me at that email address. It can't be anyone because nobody knows it but me?????
