Are there any exercise freaks out there?
Hi ladies! I was wondering if there was anyone else on this board that is an exercise freak like me. Now I am not talking about eating disorders or anything like that, more like people who like to workout and maintain a nice physique. What are your favorite ways to workout? Lifting weights, cardio machines, running, swimming, aerobic tapes at home, TAE-BO, Pilates, Yoga? Do you feel like your rountine works well and you actually see results?
About me: I love to run outside. However, with the crappy weather that we have been having, I have been pretty limited to what I can do. So, I have been running on the treadmill (which I hate). I did TAE-BO for a year or so, which I think is the best workout I have ever tried. I started Belly Dancing and Pilates also this year. So, basically, I do a different workout each day. I went to a party a few days ago and ran into some friends that I haven't seen in a month or so, and they all commented on how good I look! (I am a really petite, muscular girl to begin with, so to actually notice a change in my body is such an accomplishment for me). Now I am on a major health kick since summer is fastly approaching and I want to look awesome in my bathing suit!
So, what does anyone else do? I am interested to know

Exercise freak? hell no not me!...I'm the laziest person i know...I wouldn't mind changing my habits, but i have yet to find the motivation....the only exercise i get is my weekly yoga class, that's it. I ride my bike to get around in the summer and fall, and i walk a lot, but that's it.
I just bought a skipping rope so I can start working on my cardio-vascular system, since i get winded walking up a flight of stairs....
I've sat and tried to think of something to motivate me, and i haven't found it yet...i guess i have to look harder - or have a heart attack first!
Although, I have told myself if i go up one more size I WILL do something about it, fortunately though I htink i've reached stasis and haven't gained weight in a year or so....
ok, happy thoughts...at least i do yoga...and believe me, i sweat like a dog doin it...not to metion that i'm learning all the body parts names in french - healthy and educational

Thats me too!!! I used to play waterpolo, soccer, and softball all the time. I played travel ball and for high school. I also used to take tap, jazz, and ballet classes where i'd preform twice a year and compete when I was younger. Now in college it doesn't work that way, I'm a bum.
I do work out randomly. and I miss playing sports. When ever the guys on campus have pick up games I'll jump in...sometimes.
and for intramural soccer its a rule that all the teams must have 2 female members playing at a time, so I like when the fraternities fight over me to play!!
But the best form of exercise for me is swimming. Its a great workout and you can get a tan!

Ohmigod, that's so my story!!! I played soccer for 8 years, softball for 11, and I was a lifeguard for 3... I was on waterpolo for like a season in h.s. and have been on numerous swim teams... I was in tap/ballet/jazz as a kid, and took some dance classes in h.s. and tried one at D'Hills. Crazy!
Yeah, well if you see me now... You'd never known that I was an athlete... I've plumped up these past few years!
I do go to the gym with my friend Matt. And when we do go we work on cardio one day, weight lifting the next time, and then we swim the time after that... Then we start all over. The bad thing is, that I haven't been in a couple of weeks. Once you stop going on a reg. basis, it's hard to get back into it.
Even though I've gained weight, I'm not going to the gym to lose actual pounds... But to gain muscle... To get more toned. My frame is big, even if I was skin and bone, I know that I'd be bigger than the "average" person... My mom says it's because we're from "german stock" haha... So like I said, my main goal is to tone up, like how I was a few years ago. (Big Buff Beth! haha)
So to answer your question... No, I'm not an excercise freak... But I do try to par-take in it when I get a chance...

I wish I could get motivated again. I think mine is the same story.... I usued to do softball, basketball, swimming, tennis, and track- sometimes all at the same time. As soon as I went to school- BAM! I have horrible habits now.
My friend and I were talking about joining a gym soon. In May I have a wedding to go to, and I have to get fitted for my dress for a wedding I'm going to be in. I refuse to have adifferent look than everyone else.
It's not all about the weight. I realized yesterday that I don't even have a scale in my house. I just like it when my "normal" day-to-day clothes start fitting loosly. That's the greatest feeling (except when they start looking baggy around the butt, then it's time for a major shopping spree!).

I am glad to see that I am not the only one who feels like they have lost their high school athleticism. I was involved in cheerleading and track all during high school. Plus, I took a weight training class and aerobics class during the day at school. After my freshman year at college, I realized that unless I joined a gym or something on those lines, I was going to hate myself later because of the change in my appearance. So I joined the gym, but I still found myself falling out of the shape that I once was in. Which leads me to today, where I am working my butt off to get to where I wanna be. I am determined to get there...and I know that I will

I love to work-out it makes me feel so much better. What I like to do is:
Go running (jogging, walking, power walking) outside when the weather is good (once a week).
Due to fact that I have a small body frame and weight I only work-out at the gym 1 or 2 days a week. I am underweight (5'2 and about 100lbs). I don't do cardio except for about 3-5 minutes to warm up my body before I start to lift weights.
I would like to start mediation (but I would have to clean my room). I also would like to try yoga.
I am trying to eat right such as eat more fruit and veggies, drink more water, etc.
