Thumbs down Willard

Umm WILLARD the movie will be out this Friday, MArch 14. I cannot even attempt to go see it with all those rats. If I was his S/O, wife, etc. he would have had to bathe in bleach before I would even hold his hand.

**vomiting @ the thought of all those rats running on him**

No way am I even *considering* going to see this movie. It gives me the creeps. And I'm not talking about the rats; I'm talking about that beady-eyed freak Crispin Glover. Bleech!

To top that off, Crispin Glover's father, Bruce Glover, played Mr. Wint in Diamonds are Forever. For those who are not James Bond fans, Mr. Wint is half of the gay assassination team of Mr. Wint and Mr. Kidd (jazz musician Putter Smith). The movie was released way back in 1971, so gay portrayals were not very common then. (BTW, the real actors are straight.)

But I'm still not watching Willard. I f*ckin' hate rats!

What is the movie about, I can't even watch a preview! I turn...ewwww! It reminds me of an old episode of Tales from the Crypt where they had roaches coming all out of the drains and stuff, kinda like Arachnaphobia.

This is actually a remake. I haven't seen either, although I do have a pass to go to a screening of the new one this Monday. I don't know if I'm going, though. While I think it'll probably be a great film, I don't want to be afraid of rats for the rest of my life, either!

And Killarney- you're right on about Crispin Glover.. that man is just freeeeaky.

This is indeed a remake. I have a vague memory of the first Willard being out when I was very little; I want to guess around 1972 or so. Didn't see it. No idea who was in it, but Michael Jackson sang the theme song, "Ben".

No joke. I was 8 years old in 1972, and Ben was a hit for a sweet, young BLACK Jacko. Here's a link to the lyrics:

OMG.. the more I see the trailers, the more I want to see this movie. I really liked the original, too. As if the rats weren't creepy enough, they had to cast Crispin Glover in the lead role.

I'm all over this one, even though I'll probably regret it and demand my $12 back.

I can't hear this song anymore without thinking about that scene from the Jackson family miniseries with young Michael running through the kitchen looking for his buddy "Mr. Rat" to tell him the good news after they won a talent competition-- only to find him in a rat trap. Freaking HILARIOUS!

perfect casting

OK, right now we're all freaked out when we hear young Jacko singing in the first place, right? So what do they do but cast Crispin Glover: the only human alive who is weirder than Michael Jackson. They need to dig up the Letterman where he went ballistic and put it on endless loop on VH1.
